The article describes results of a study conducted in 2015-2016 as part of a research project of the WSB University in Poznań entitled “The metropolitan region as a space of recreational penetration – the case of the Poznań agglomeration.” The study focuses on the recreation space of the urban agglomeration, which is part of a territorial recreation system used for recreational purposes by inhabitants of the Poznań Metropolitan Area. The aim of the study was to present motivations and preferences concerning the choice of walking and bike recreational activity in the Poznań Metropolitan Area. The article presents characteristics of the walking and cycling infrastructure in the Poznań agglomeration and inhabitants’ assessments of the agglomeration’s attractiveness as regards activities of this type.
The article examines the development of recreational activities in the Kyiv agglomeration (metropolitan area) since the 1960s as exemplified by cottage development. The authors use methods of statistical and cartographic analysis and synthesis to take stock of and evaluate the spatial distribution of recreation activities over the reference period. The current state of the recreational use of the area is based on field research conducted by the authors. The article identifies stages of development and the effect of the basic patterns of the spatial distribution of recreational activity at each stage as well as areas of possible development.
In recent years we have observed rapid aging of societies. An important role in maintaining high quality of life as regards seniors is played by proper medical care as well as physical and mental activity. The aim of the present research was to determine the role of participating in organized forms of recreational activity in the process of successful aging. The conducted research was based on a questionnaire and it involved 64 participants of a recreational and sports event, Seniorada, addressed to seniors and their relatives. The findings have shown that recreational events play an important role in the process of integrating the seniors’ environment, promoting entertainment and physical activity and, moreover, they help the elderly acquire new skills and improve well-being.

Do celów badań wykorzystano kwestionariusz ankiety.

The opinion of specialists, practically achieving educational impacts regarding adults and referring to promoting healthy lifestyle in form of physical and mental recreation, is rather common, that despite the attractiveness of recreational infrastructure, which has been enriched in the last 10 years, urban and non-urban centers are not accompanied by efficient motivation systems for their use. One of many reasons for that is the fact that the changes in this system don’t keep up to evolutional processes which we witness in social attitudes, which are shaped by increased role of medias (internet, computer, television, radio) addressed to basic social groups (especially families) Preliminary studies, which chosen results were presented, point to the need for changes in the approach of recreation offerors in both formal and procedural terms. In the article, I propose a change to this approach, confirmed by the opinions of the people examined. The results of the research indicate the appropriateness and purposefulness of changes in the system that motivates late adults (above 46 years old) to recreation in both formal and non-formal form.
The article presents the problem of recreational activity of seniors with intellectual disability (ID). Members of this social group spend their old age in nursing homes – Polish social welfare institutions. Recreational activity has been presented through its features: types, forms, functions, levels and barriers. Recreational activity of seniors with ID is underresearched, as evidenced by poor literature on the subject. Recreation – defined as voluntary activity in spare time – is stereotypically meant for individuals with intellectual norm. Our research has shown that the surveyed seniors with ID voluntarily participate in recreational activities and tend to choose physical activity for leisure and play. Their recreational activity is at emotional and task level, according to J. Nash’s theory.

Aktywność rekreacyjna seniorów z niepełnosprawnością intelektualnąArtykuł przedstawia problematykę aktywności rekreacyjnej seniorów z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną (NI). Ta grupa społeczna swoją starość spędza m.in. w domu pomocy społecznej (DPS) – polskiej instytucji opiekuńczej.
