The term Rent to Buy a Home can be defined as a rental of a property which leads to a purchase. This institution is directed mainly towards worse-off people who cannot afford to buy even a relatively inexpensive flat. The subject of the analysis is Rent to Homebuy program, which is promoted by the British government. The program functions in England, but is interesting due to the fact, that it is not known in Poland, and because it presents reasonable solutions that promote a kind of public housing. This present work is an analysis of the basic assumptions of the Rent to Homebuy scheme and an attempt to find a Polish equivalent of the legal structure matching the described system.

Termin Rent to Buy a Home można przetłumaczyć jako „najem na zakup domu”. Instytucja ta skierowana jest głównie do osób niezamożnych, które nie mogą sobie pozwolić na zakup nawet relatywnie taniego lokum. Przedmiot analizy stanowi promowany przez rząd brytyjski program Rent to Homebuy. Program ten działa na terenie Anglii, ale mimo to jest interesujący ze względu na fakt, iż nie jest znany w naszym kraju, a ukazuje rozsądne rozwiązania promujące rodzaj budownictwa socjalnego. Opracowanie stanowi analizę podstawowych założeń systemu Rent to Homebuy oraz próbę znalezienia polskiego odpowiednika tej konstrukcji prawnej.
