Globalization and internationalization of economic activities resulted in the development of multinational companies on an unprecedented scale in the history. Changes in the organization of production and management, which gave effect of increasing productivity and maximize revenues. There were, however, negative effects of these processes: depletion of a large portion of the world’s population, expansion of the disparities between the countries of the rich North and the poor South and degradation and over – exploitation of the environment. The development of corporate social responsibility, responsible investment and promoting Fair Trade – especially during an economic crisis – can change the rules governing the world today. This crisis has focused unethical behavior of transnational corporations, the lack of accountability for the decisions, excessive desire to get rich at any cost, ordinary theft and fraud. Changes in the Amartya Sen’s and Mahbub-ul-Haq’s Human Development Index – HDI takes into account the different types of inequality (which are often negative effects of business activities) shows that our world has much to gain if we concentrate our eff orts on defeating these social disparities. The article presents three possible scenarios for the development of the global situation on the world markets with reference to the economic crisis: positive, neutral and negative variant for transnational corporations – a major player in the arena of international relations. It is worth remembering demands of the new economy - the economy of social development – oriented to increase the standard of living and wealth, and which stimulates economic growth and social development affects the reduction of social inequalities.

The aim of the article is to present and analyze fundamental data concerning the market of ecological investment funds (EIF) in German-speaking Europe (GSE) to assess the current state and prospects for this market. The hypothesis in the paper is formulated as follows: “The ecological investment funds market has been developing dynamically in the GSE region”. In the research paper, critical aspects of the functioning of socially responsible investment (SRI), both theoretical and practical, were also presented as well. The following research methods were used: critical analysis of the literature, desk research, descriptive, comparative methods and deduction method. The results prove the above-mentioned hypothesis. The primary conclusion from the research is that further development of the described market is to be expected. It was also hinted that achievements in the ecological evolution of the financial markets could become the inspiration for the financial market in Poland.

The article presents the results of five years of research on transparency levels regarding the disclosure non‑financial data by companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE). The research was conducted as part of a project entitled “ESG analysis of companies in Poland”. The goal of the project is to provide credible knowledge about the quality of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) data on the Polish capital market. The article mainly contains the results of a comprehensive analysis of how well the listed companies reported ESG related data in 2016. The five years of analysis enable us to show a change in the level of non‑financial data disclosure between 2012 and 2016.1 The results of the research show that, from an investor’s perspective, there is still a huge information gap on the Polish capital market, especially in the reporting of environmental and social data.

The subject of this study are legal regulations and guidelines concerning sustainable finance. The research objective is to identify the need of reshaping the process of financial assets under management. The object of the research is the overlapping processes on the financial markets between general investment based on financial efficiency and investment concerning social responsibility. The following research methods were used in the development of this article: the analysis of the literature of the subject, analysis of legal acts, desk research, observations, descriptive and comparative analysis. The main conclusion is that the current process of optionally including ESG criteria (environmental-social-governance) during investment decisions is being substituted by obligatory requirements in legal acts. As a result, the modest evolution of financial markets with regard to ESG consideration has accelerated significantly. It is to be expected that assets that also consider non-financial preferences will dominate financial markets in the future. This ongoing trend may be considered as a significant revolution in investment.
