Norwidian Tear. On Lyricism and Rhetoric   The text presents in a multi-faceted way the motif of tears in Norwid’s writings. The motif is shown within a new research context, i.e. the tradition of baroque rhetoric. The author proposes a well-supported thesis, in which she argues that in the case of Norwid’s writings lyricism grows out of the rhetoric thus creating a new artistic dimension.

Sądzę, że przykład pisarstwa krytycznoliterackiego Michała Grabowskiego, krytyka doby romantyzmu, ukazuje nie tylko indywidualne zmagania krytyka z własnym tekstem, ale prezentuje także wzorzec udzielania porad dominujący w XIX-wiecznej krytyce. Przykład strategii retorycznych wykorzystanych przez Grabowskiego otworzy dyskusję nad znacznie szerszym zagadnieniem – pozwoli zaprezentować jeden z wielu romantycznych modeli krytyki, która mimo dowartościowania roli odbiorcy opierała się na retorycznym oddziaływaniu na wybory czytelnika. Choć krytykę Grabowskiego charakteryzuje koncyliacyjny ton, a pisarz zdaje się jedynie doradzać czytelnikom, to w jego wypowiedziach łatwo odnaleźć także próby sterowania rozwojem literatury i jej recepcją. W artykule przybliżam środki retoryczne, które wykorzystywał autor O poezji XIX wieku, co pozwoli na pełniejsze objaśnienie jego myśli krytycznoliterackiej.

The example of critical literary texts by Michał Grabowski, a critic of the romantic era, demonstrates not only his individual struggle with his own text, but also presents the model of expressing recommendations that prevailed in the 19th century critique. The example of rhetorical strategies used by Grabowski will open a discussion about a much broader issue – it will make it possible to present one of many romantic models of criticism which, despite empowering the audience, was based on a rhetorical influence on the reader's choices. Although Grabowski's criticism is characterized by a conciliatory tone, and the author seems to only provide readers with advice, his expressions also reveal attempts at controlling the development of literature and its reception. I will thus present the tools used by the author of O poezji XIX wieku, which will allow me to more fully elucidate his literary critical views.

In recent years, there has been a development of interdisciplinary research in literary studies. In the language of theory, a number of concepts transferred from other scientific disciplines appeared. In connection with the development of media and new technologies, audiovisual concepts have become popular. The article reflects on the mechanism of adapting the vocabulary of literary theory to the audiovisual field, which determines contemporary literary communication. Used and popular media metaphors often have a literary approach or are used in a purely philological way as a clue or metaphor. These concepts, transferred to the language of literary theory, lose their source properties, leading to blurring the boundaries of disciplinary discourse. They become an attempt to negotiate meanings within well-known, sometimes refreshed, reborn, reconstructed, theoretical concepts derived from old-fashion structuralism.

Wraz z rozwojem badań interdyscyplinarnych w obrębie literaturoznawstwa pojawiło się wiele pojęć przenoszonych z innych dyscyplin naukowych do kręgu literaturoznawczego. Jednym z takich obszarów niewątpliwie jest audiowizualność związana z rozwojem mediów i nowych technologii. Artykuł podejmuje refleksję nad mechanizmem dostosowywania słownika pojęć teorii literatury do pola audiowizualnego, które wyznacza współcześnie komunikację literacką. Używane i popularne metafory medialne mają bardzo często literaturoznawczą proweniencję albo wykorzystywane są w sposób czysto filologiczny na poziomie tropu czy metafory. Przenoszone do języka teorii literatury tracą swoje źródłowe właściwości, prowadząc do rozmycia granic dyskursu dyscyplinowego. Stają się one próbą negocjowania znaczeń w obrębie dobrze znanych, czasem odświeżonych, odrodzonych, zrekonstruowanych, pojęć teoretycznych wywiedzionych z dobrego, starego strukturalizmu.

The introductory text discusses the contents of the yearbook and points to the directions of analysis and interpretation undertaken in the sketches and studies contained therein. The articles combine meanings of great imaginational metaphors of THEATRE and COSMOS as certain universes. Developing the idea of Hans Blumenberg, one can say that the realism of metaphors (including theatrical and cosmological studies) is the realism of rhetoricality – times, artistic trends, creators. (Re)definitions of the terms: rhetoric, rhetoricality – constitute the second thematic circle touched upon in texts, alongside categories such as performativity or transmediality. These phenomena do not function outside the genres of literary, scientific and para-scientific statements, therefore the third area of investigation in the articles concerns genological reflection (especially in relation to: academic mystery novel, theater novel, lyric cycle, anthology, “private” genology of Stanisław Barańczak).

Tekst wstępny omawia zawartość rocznika oraz wskazuje na podjęte, w szkicach i studiach w nim zawartych, kierunki analiz i interpretacji. W artykułach konweniują sensy wielkich metafor wyobrażeniowych TEATRU i KOSMOSU jako pewnych uniwersów. Rozwijając myśl Hansa Blumenberga można powiedzieć, że realizmem metafor (w tym metaforyki teatrologicznej i kosmologicznej) jest realizm retoryczności – czasów, nurtów artystycznych, twórców. (Re)definicje pojęć: retoryka, retoryczność – stanowią drugi krąg tematyczny poruszany w tekstach, obok takich kategorii jak performatywność czy transmedialność. Zjawiska te nie funkcjonują poza gatunkami wypowiedzi literackiej, naukowej i paranaukowej, dlatego trzeci krąg rozważań w artykułach dotyczy refleksji genologicznej (szczególnie w odniesieniu do: akademickiej powieści kryminalnej, powieści teatralnej, cyklu lirycznego, antologii, „prywatnej” genologii Stanisława Barańczaka).

The article is an attempt to describe the dispute in the theory of literature, as exemplified by a polemic between Professor Jakub Z. Lichański and Professor Michał Rusinek. The public dispute of these scholars was mainly conducted in the issues of some major Polish humanities periodicals at the beginning of the first decade of the 21st century and concerned the perception of rhetoric, which Prof. Lichański understands in a traditional but at the same time modern way, while prof. Rusinek applies conceptually sophisticated categories of postmodernity. Surprisingly, the method of describing this polemic is offered by classical rhetoric itself, which integrates textual, communicative and contextual aspects of each statement, demonstrating its persuasive, i.e.: cognitive, educational and aesthetic functions. Even in the case of a scientific dissertation, particularly, a polemical one.

W artykule podjęta została próba opisania sporu w teorii (literatury) na przykładzie polemiki Panów Profesorów Jakuba Z. Lichańskiego i Michała Rusinka. Publiczna dyskusja tych uczonych prowadzona była głównie na łamach najważniejszych periodyków polskiej humanistyki w początkach pierwszej dekady XXI wieku, a dotyczyła sposobu rozumienia retoryki, którą prof. Lichański pojmuje tradycyjnie, choć zarazem nowocześnie, natomiast prof. Rusinek ujmuje retorykę w wymyślnych kategoriach ponowoczesności. Metodę opisu tego sporu przewrotnie oferuje sama retoryka (klasyczna), która integruje tekstowy, komunikacyjny i kontekstowy aspekt każdej wypowiedzi, ukazując jej perswazyjną, czyli poznawczą, wychowawczą i estetyczną, funkcję. Nawet publikacji naukowej, zwłaszcza polemicznej.
