“É suffiente essere donna perché mi cadano le ali” (V 10, 8). Questa eloquente affrmazione di santa Teresa di Gesu è una perfetta testimonianza della mentalità che dominava l’epoca in cui viveva. Una attenta lettura dei testi Teresiani fa sorgere alcuni quesiti: Le sono veramente cadute le ali? Cosa ne pensa in realtà santa Teresa sulla donna, sulla Carmelitana? La riformatrice del Carmelo, ha iniziato a valutare le cose in modo personale senza preoccuparsi del giudizio degli altri. Ha iniziato la rivoluzione epistemologica e la continua nelle epoche successive. Oggi, l’ambiente feministico della “Diotima” la riguarda come una donna ideale. L’articolo presenta i principii del suddetto ambiente, tocca la questione del linguaggio di Teresa, cerca di analizzare lo sviluppo della subcultura Teresiana e il suo impatto sull’epoca in cui viveva.

“For the rest, it is enough that I am a woman to make my sails droop”. This meaningful statement of St. Teresa of Jesus reveals, in an excellent way, the mentality typical for her times. Careful reading of the Teresian texts inspires us however to ask the following question: Have her wings really fallen? What does Teresa really mean about a woman, a carmelite woman? The reformer of the Carmel undertook the effrts of the independent and critical thinking. She started the epistemological revolution, which has been continuing through the ages. Today she is considered by the feminist environment of “Diotima” as an exemplary woman. This article presents assumptions of this environment, refers to the issue of Theresa’s language, tries to track the development of the Teresian subculture and her impact on her epoch.

„Dość tego, że jestem kobietą, aby mi na samo wspomnienie skrzydła opadły…” (Ż 10, 8). To wymowne stwierdzenie św. Teresy od Jezusa jest doskonałym świadectwem mentalności, jaka dominowała we współczesnej je epoce. Uważna lektura terezjańskich tekstów każe nam jednak zadać pytanie: czy rzeczywiście opadły jej skrzydła? Co św. Teresa tak naprawdę myśli o kobiecie, o karmelitance? Reformatorka Karmelu podjęła trud samodzielnego, krytycznego myślenia. Rozpoczęła rewolucję epistemologiczną i kontynuuje ją przez kolejne epoki. Dziś uważana jest przez fem inistyczne środowisko „Diotimy” za wzór kobiety. Artykuł przedstawia założenia tegoż środowiska, podejmuje kwestię języka Teresy, stara się prześledzić rozwój terezjańskiej subkultury oraz jej wpływ na epokę, w której żyła.
