Artykuł przedstawia genezę i rozwój laboratoriów wytwórczych (ang. fabrication laboratories) – nowego rodzaju instytucji nieformalnego kształcenia technicznego. Miejsca takie łączą ruch „zrób to sam” z nowymi technologiami i elementami subkultury hackerskiej. Dyskutowane są również koszty, problemy i możliwości użycia tego rodzaju rozwiązań w instytucjach edukacyjnych. W artykule przedstawiono przegląd inicjatyw edukacyjnych łączących się z ruchem „zrób do sam”.

The paper presents genesis and development of fab-labs (fabrication laboratories) – new type of institution of non-formal technical education and training. Fab-Labs, makerspaces or hackerspaces link traditional do-it-yourself (DIY) approach with modern technologies and hackers subculture. The paper discusses costs, problems and possibilities of including that type of initiatives into educational institutions. The paper includes brief summary of educational initiatives connected with DIY.
