: Zaprezentowany poniżej tekst jest podsumowaniem fazy testów międzynarodowego projektu „4P – międzysektorowa inicjatywa pomocy rodzinom wielopokoleniowym”. Przedstawiono w nim dwa nowatorskie rozwiązania na rzecz sandwich generation: „placówkę opieki łączonej” oraz „manager opiekuna”. Te opisane i sprawdzone na grupie 140 osób metody mają na celu rozwiązanie problemów rodzinnych i zawodowych tzw. drugiego pokolenia, a więc osób w średnim wieku, będących opiekunami faktycznymi dwóch osób zależnych ze skrajnych pokoleń; tj. dziecka oraz osoby starszej (własnego rodzica lub dziadka).

The text presented below is a summary of the test phase of the International project “4P – cross-sectoral policy initiative helping multigenerational families”. Two innovative solutions for the “sandwich generation” such as “combined care facility” and the “geriatric care manager” were introduced here. The solutions, described and tested on a group of 140 people, aim at solving family and professional problems of the so-called secondgeneration; that is the middle-aged people, being the actual caregivers for two dependant people originating from two extreme generations who are a child and an older person (parent or grandparent).

The article presents a support system for extended families implemented by the State system and NGOs in Finland. The text presents a new concept of SANDWICH GENERATION - referring to the generation of adult family members, who for various reasons must take care of both aging parents and adult children, and often also grandchildren, while engaging in professional work.

Artykuł przedstawia system wsparcia dla rodzin wielopokoleniowych realizowany przez system Państwa i organizacje pozarządowe w Finlandii. W tekście przedstawiono nowe pojęcie SANDWICH GENERATION - odnoszące się do pokolenia dorosłych członków rodzin, którzy z różnych względów muszą obejmować opieką zarówno starzejących się rodziców, jak i dorosłe dzieci, a częstokroć także wnuki, jednocześnie trudniąc się pracą zawodową.

Based on ISSP 2012 Family and Health, this paper focuses on informal caregiving for elderly, sick or disabled family members in the Czech Republic. Specifically, it investigates the socio-demographic characteristics of family caregivers. The findings show that the carers are more likely to be female of a productive age; and thus they often have to combine childcare, care for other family member and employment. Findings from this study also demonstrate that in case of women partnership status also influences care involvement. However, socioeconomic status measured by education does not have an effect on the provision of informal care because the institutional context in which private formal care is not widespread.

Aging is a global problem and affects most countries in the world, especially developed countries. It should be noted that by 2050 the average life expectancy of the world population will increase by almost eight years. This shows great social progress but is causing problems. Demographics provide information that should be the basis for planning health, care and activating activities. The greatest burden of caring for aging parents take the women. Already today highlights the plight of the sandwich generation group that helps adult children and old parents. The article addresses the demographic problems of the world and the key definitions of active aging. Studies show the difficult situation of sandwich generation and contribute to discussion in social policy.

Starzenie się społeczeństw stało się problemem globalnym i dotyczy większości państw na świecie, a zwłaszcza państw wysoko rozwiniętych. Do 2050 r. średnia długość życia ludności na świecie zwiększy się o prawie osiem lat. Świadczy to o dużym postępie społecznym, ale też rodzi określone problemy. Dane demograficzne dostarczają bardzo istotnych informacji, które powinny być podstawą do planowania działań zdrowotnych, opiekuńczych i aktywizujących. Największy ciężar opieki nad starzejącymi się rodzicami przejmują zazwyczaj kobiety. Już współcześnie coraz częściej podkreśla się trudną sytuację grupy określanej mianem sandwich generation, która „uwięziona” została w oczekiwaniach i pomocy dla dorosłych dzieci i starych rodziców. W artykule nawiązano do problemów demograficznych świata oraz kluczowych definicji aktywnej starości i starzenia. Pilotażowe badania dają obraz trudnej sytuacji pokolenia sandwich generation oraz są przyczynkiem do dyskusji na rodzące się problemy społeczne.

W niniejszym artykule została zwrócona uwaga na liczne dylematy, które towarzyszą współczesnej rodzinie, która nadal, pomimo wielu przemian strukturalno-funkcjonalnych, realizuje spory zakres zobowiązań w ramach niepisanego kodeksu moralnego nakazującego wzajemne świadczenie różnych usług i form wsparcia. W pierwszej części artykułu została przybliżona istota solidarności rodzinnej, w części drugiej – główne zasady, na których się ona opiera. W części trzeciej przedstawione zostały dylematy związane z realizacją zasad solidarności rodzinnej wobec najstarszego pokolenia w rodzinie. W części czwartej artykułu przedstawiono dylematy związane z realizacją zasad solidarności rodzinnej wobec młodego pokolenia w rodzinie.

This article draws attention to the many dilemmas that arise in the modern family; despite many structural and functional changes, the family continues to face a large range of obligations under an unwritten moral code that requires the mutual provision of various services and forms of support. The first part of the article discusses the essence of family solidarity, while the second part considers the main principles on which this solidarity is based. The third part presents dilemmas connected with implementing principles of family solidarity in regard to the eldest generation in the family, and the fourth part covers dilemmas related to implementing principles of family solidarity in regard to the young generation in the family.
