In the context of the current postmodernity and global world’s consumer societies, the author proposes the reading of the history of Polish cultural oikoumene (Gr. ‘inhabited’) – the Republic, from the perspective of moral courage constituting particular subjects’ fulfillment in the glory of life in this cultural and civilisational community of subjects. It is the sacrifice of life for the Motherland in the shape of values, which, as a nation (community of subjects), we inherit and at the same time strengthen in the tradition of selflessly perceived and undertaken through actions life fulfillment in being – both through the sacrifice of all Polish people, citizens of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, insurrectionists of the annexation period, the Polish society of the German – Soviet annexation period after the year 1939 and victims of genocide during and after the war.
In the context of present postmodernism and consumptive societies of “global” world, the author of reflection tries to consider the issue of a University identity vis-à-vis more and more dynamic reversal in the area of educational paradigm – the reversal or return from postmodern to classical pedagogy.
