Using results of their original analysis, the author proposes a concept of, and a typology of a whole online image created by a politician’s activity on the Internet and social media in particular.

In this study I wrote about the findings of the BKF Viadukt research among Hungarian teenagers. Thanks to the focus group research and the survey, we found that Hungarian teenagers openly and willingly talk about their social media use habits, give access to their data, profile and cover pictures, the structure of their social network and the applications they use. They usually gave access to save their personal data for the research. We were able to determine what social media channels were popular among them in 2013, which were used more actively, and for what purposes.

The main aim of this paper is to analyse the image and policy directions of Vladimir Putin in social media before the 2018 presidential elections that he won. The official Twitter channel in English version was traversed in this paper. The presidential campaign of Vladimir Putin on Twitter in 2018 was very gentle. The leader strategy, which was adopted, ensured his outright victory. The most commonly raised issues before the presidential elections in Russia concerned international partnerships, military issues, army and arms. Information concerning private life was not used in the pictures and in the paper. He had condoled, wished and congratulated – the widely promoted image of a charismatic leader was broken down by friendly gestures. The figure of president was exposed in pictures. The most posted pictures of the President were pictures of him surrounded by common people, workers and politicians. His attire and body language underlined a professional approach.

„The network Tribes” – Internet as a social and intercultural mediumThe Internet communication, including so-called cross-cultural communication, is undoubtedly technologically determined, but also shaped by the “premodern” social relations which were characterized by the dominance of individualism, referring to a sense of collective responsibility not to traditional reference groups (such as the state, the nation, the family and the Church), but to other, more precursory units of an unspecified nature (so-called “new tribes”, human communities of informal nature, the existence of which maintains a network of emotional dependence, comp. Michel Maffesoli (1988). The Time of the Tribes: The Decline of Individualism in Mass Society). However, it remains just as diverse as “offline” communication: it depends primarily on the social, cultural and psychological circumstances of its participants. The contemporary Internet promotes the technological development of cross-cultural social relations, allows for the formation of new social ties, but has no significant effect on their shape and their content.
