This paper discusses the issues of disability in the context of stereotypes and attitudes towards disability exhibited by different social groups (for example, students, women, men, disabled persons). The article presents terminological problems concerning disability, stereotypes and stigma. Based on the results of the research, it presents the perception and the social image of disability revealed by persons with no identified disabilities and disabled people (actor and observer perspective). The declared stereotype and autostereotype is slowly changing towards a more positive and integration-oriented attitude. The paper also provides suggestions for improving the image of disabled persons in Poland.

Artykuł dotyczy problematyki niepełnosprawności w kontekście stereotypów i postaw ujawnianych przez różne grupy społeczne (np. studenci, kobiety, mężczyźni, osoby niepełnosprawne). Prezentuje problemy terminologiczne dotyczące niepełnosprawności, stereotypów i piętna. Na podstawie wyników badań pokazuje percepcję i społeczny wizerunek niepełnosprawności uzewnętrzniany przez osoby bez stwierdzonej niepełnosprawności i niepełnosprawne (perspektywa obserwatora i aktora). Deklarowany stereotyp i autostereotyp powoli zmienia się w kierunku bardziej pozytywnym i prointegracyjnym. Podane zostały również propozycje poprawy wizerunku osób niepełnosprawnych w Polsce.
