Artykuł podejmuje problem konstytucji, kondycji i dorobku polskiej socjologii sportu. Wskazane są istotne kontrowersje dotyczące samego przedmiotu i nazwy subdyscypliny (socjologia sportu versus socjologia kultury fizycznej). Omówiono, identyfikowane w literaturze przedmiotu, problemy polskiej socjologii sportu (między inny- mi wąskie spektrum poruszanych zagadnień, niedobór oryginalnych prac badawczych, niska naukowa jakość studiów). Celem artykułu jest empiryczna weryfikacja katalogu tych problemów. Podstawę analizy stanowi wykonana własna kwerenda polskiego czasopiśmiennictwa socjologicznego z lat 2001–2015. Objęła ona wszystkie numery (łącznie 280 woluminów), ze wskazanego wyżej okresu, następujących pięciu polskich periodyków socjologicznych: „Studia Socjologiczne”, „Przegląd Socjologiczny”, „Polish Sociological Review”, „Kultura i Społeczeństwo” oraz „Ruch Prawniczy, Ekonomiczny i Socjologiczny”. Na podstawie zebranego materiału zidentyfikowano 29 prac przynależnych do subdyscypliny, potwierdzono faktyczną monokulturę tematyczną polskiej socjologii sportu (głównie świat futbolu i patologiczne zachowania kibiców piłkarskich) z wyraźną nadreprezentacją prac teoretycznych i przeglądowych. Artykuł kończą wnioski, wskazujące zaniedbywane obszary i formy debaty socjologicznej, w odniesieniu do sfery kultury fizycznej (zwłaszcza brak recenzji książek z obszaru socjologii sportu).

The article analyzes the condition and achievements of the sociology of sport in Poland. It discusses some vital controversies related to the subject and the name of the sub-discipline (sociology of sport versus sociology of physical culture). The article also scrutinizes the list of the weaknesses of the sociology of sport in Poland (among them: narrow spectrum of issues, lack of original studies and poor quality of studies), that the literature had hitherto provided. The aim of the article is to carry out an empirical verification of the catalogue of these problems. The verification is conducted by means of the analysis of five Polish sociological journals (Studia Socjologiczne, Przegląd Socjologiczny, Polish Sociological Review, Kultura i Społeczeństwo and Ruch Prawniczy, Ekonomiczny i Socjologiczny) from the period of 2001-2015, covering a total number of 280 volumes. Twenty-nine papers belonging to the subdiscipline are identified. The findings confirm that the study themes undertaken by the sociology of sport in Poland are not diverse (mainly: football and hooligan groups’ activities) and that theoretical studies are visibly overrepresented. In the conclusions, the neglected fields and forms of sociological debate on the sphere of physical culture are listed (particularly, the lack of book reviews).
