This paper attempts to identify the spatial relationships between synthetic measures of sustainable development and synthetic measures of institutional infrastructure development levels in Western Poland districts. The territorial scope of this study covered 112 districts in five voivodeships: Dolnośląskie, Lubuskie, Opolskie, Wielkopolskie and Zachodniopomorskie. The timeframes for this study are limited to one year (2015). Because of the multidimensionality of categories covered by the analysis, this study used TOPSISbased taxonomic measures. In order to determine the strength of spatial relationships between the districts in terms of the subject matter of this study, the analysis of spatial autocorrelation (based on the developed proprietary measures of sustainable development and of the institutional infrastructure development levels) was performed with the use of the global and local Moran’s I statistics

Wstępnie przyjęto założenie, że przemysł i usługi należą do podstawowych czynników rozwoju społecznego, gospodarczego i kulturowego różnej skali układów przestrzennych, zwłaszcza układów lokalnych i regionalnych. W wyniku zmieniających się potencjału ekonomicznego, poziomu technologicznego i technicznego podmiotów gospodarczych oraz jakości i rozmiarów związanych z nimi rynków przemysł i usługi wpływają na przemiany funkcjonalne i zasięgi oddziaływania przestrzennego, m.in. w zakresie powiązań produkcyjno-usługowych, infrastrukturalnych, instytucjonalnych i stosunków pracy. Przyjęte założenie zweryfikowano zarysem dorobku badawczego szkoły prof. dr Marii Dobrowolskiej. Zaprezentowano przykłady różnorodnego wpływu procesów industrializacji na przemiany przestrzenne układów lokalnych i regionalnych. Przedstawiony dorobek, z uwzględnieniem zmieniających się reguł gospodarowania, nasilających się procesów globalizacji i postępu cywilizacyjnego, posłużył do zarysowania teoretycznej koncepcji kształtowania układów przestrzennych w wyniku działalności przemysłu oraz usług.

It was initially assumed that industry and services are fundamental to the social, economic and cultural development of various spatial systems, especially local and regional systems. As a result of the changing economic potential, the technological and technical level of business entities and the quality and size of related markets, industry and services influence functional and spatial changes, among others in terms of: production-service links and infrastructural, institutional and labour relations. The assumption made was verified by an outline of the research output of professor Maria Dobrowolska. Examples of the different effects of industrialisation processes on spatial transformations of local and regional systems are presented. The presented output, taking into account changing management rules, increasing globalisation processes and civilisation progress, served to outline the theoretical concept of shaping spatial systems as a result of industry and services.
