Criminal analysis in law enforcement agencies’ work has been around for many years. Initially, it was used by police offi cers in a nonformalised way, its main purpose being to try to understand and systematise crimes. Attempts to draw conclusions from the collected data contributed to greater effectiveness of the detection process. Nowadays, the need for effi ciency in processing the increasing amount of data, and the far-reaching professionalisation of criminal groups have resulted in the fact that criminal analysis is no longer a cure-all for a lack of thinking, but an indispensable tool in the effective fi ght against crime. Considering the above, the article presents the need for the effective use of criminal analysis in combatting mainly organised crime of an economic nature.

Verbal communication for specific purposes during language classes invariably involves the decision making process. Decisions primarily concern specialized content and linguistic expressions. The participants in the communication, i.e. teachers and learners, must there-fore have an appropriate level of language competence and expertise. This specialist knowledge, defined as specific knowledge of a professional area and activities related to it, includes both substantial knowledge of the field, knowledge of terminology and discourse structures. Expertise plays an essential role in every aspect of teaching a foreign language for business purposes, as oral communication skills are developed on the basis of specialist knowledge. Broadening spe-cialist knowledge is hence both means and purpose. Deficiencies in specialist knowledge can be seen in the performance of communication tasks when it hinders the ability to reach an agreement. The aim of this article is to analyse the role of expertise in oral communication for specific purposes in business language classes with reference to the author's own research.

The present article is an attempt to present the situation in the area of Content and Language Integrated Learning at some technical universities in Poland. It starts with a brief outline of CLIL methodology as well as its status in the context of Polish tertiary education, and then moves on to a discussion of the results of the study conducted among Polish and international students attending English-medium courses in their specialist areas, such as, for instance, engineering. The courses involve learning of new, difficult concepts as well as specialized vocabulary. The study took place in three universities which have been offering content instruction in English for a number of years. Its aim was to investigate problems and difficulties that students come across during the course of their studies in a foreign language, as well as their expectations concerning such a mode of education.

The subject of this article is to present the importance of the opinion of a court expert in criminal proceedings and penal fiscal proceedings as evidence necessary to determine the correct facts in the light of the possibility of a depletion or exposure to depletion of public law liabilities to the State Treasury by an economic entity. An opinion containing specialist knowledge is a necessary element of modern court proceedings, due to the complex economic, financial and accounting mechanisms occurring in modern international economic transactions. Inspection authorities, as well as judicial proceedings authorities, are not always able to independently determine the correct facts, which often determine whether or not there a re features of a prohibited act.
