Abstract: The article discusses a new stray-find from Groß-Strömkendorf, the famous harbor and trading-place near Wismar at the Baltic coast: a fine sculptured hand holding a drinking horn. Very similar finds came to light through the last years in Seehausen (Sachsen-Anhalt) und Cotes/Chranwood (England). The small group of three spure-applications show a riding man holding a drinking-horn in his hand. The most striking parallels to this motive are picture-stones from Gotland and they are dated to the 8th and 9th century AD. The motive is interpretated as the welcome-drink for the death heroic warriors in Valhalla.

Abstrakt: artykuł omawia znalezisko z Groß-Strömkendorf, znanego centrum handlowego położonego nad Bałtykiem niedaleko Wismaru: wyobrażenie figuralne ręki trzymającej róg do picia. Analogiczne przedmioty znaleziono w ostatnich latach w Seehausen (Sachsen-Anhalt) i Cotes/Chranwood (Anglia). Niewielka seria trzech aplikacji ostróg przedstawia jeźdźca trzymającego róg do picia. Najbliższe analogie stanowią w tym przypadku postaci wyryte na kamieniach z Gotlandii datowanych na VIII–IX wiek. Motyw ten interpretuje się jako przedstawienie toastu powitalnego w Walhalli wojowników poległych heroiczną śmiercią.
