Rozwijające się inteligentne systemy w miastach mają ułatwić i usprawnić życie mieszkańców. Żyjemy w otoczeniu rosnących infrastruktur danych – Big Data – w zmieniających się w smart city miejscach zamieszkania. Celem artykułu jest podjęcie dyskusji o ryzyku życia w takim otoczeniu. Badaniu poddano ryzyko życia mieszkańców w smart city, w szczególności bezpieczeństwo ludzi starszych, w cyfrowym społeczeństwie opartym na wiedzy. Pojawiają się nowe wyzwania w zakresie mobilności, edukacji czy finansów. Jednocześnie należy pamiętać o podstawowych kwestiach zdrowotnych – zdrowie osobnicze oraz możliwości jego poprawy w zakresie wsparcia medycznego i farmaceutycznego, o bezpieczeństwie środowiska seniora – miejsca zamieszkania oraz cech środowiska naturalnego (ten moduł obejmuje również bezpieczeństwo osobiste), jak również o bezpieczeństwie osobistym w przestrzeni miasta.

The main aim of the article is to compare the scope of the informal support that older people with difficulties in everyday life receive from outside the family in chosen European Countries. Binomial logit models were used to verify the hypothesis that receiving informal help from outside the household depends on the living arrangements and socio-economic features of those who receive the assistance. The empirical analysis draws upon a new approach to population ageing presented in the Multilinks project. The results of the work allow us to demonstrate the characteristics of Central-Eastern Europe and to reveal how they differ from Northern, Western and Southern Europe. The general conclusions are compatible with results obtained by other researchers working on different databases and using different methods.

Celem pracy jest porównanie zakresu pozainstytucjonalnego wsparcia udzielanego osobom w starszym wieku doświadczającym problemów z czynnościami życia codziennego w wybranych krajach europejskich. W celu zweryfikowania hipotezy głoszącej, że otrzymywanie pomocy pozainstytucjonalnej spoza gospodarstwa przez osoby z problemami życia codziennego jest determinowane typem gospodarstwa domowego i cechami społeczno-demograficznymi populacji otrzymującej wsparcie, skonstruowano dwumianowe modele logitowe. Teoretyczną podstawę analizy stanowi nowe podejście do starzenia się ludności przyjęte w projekcie Multilinks. Na podstawie uzyskanych rezultatów określono specyfikę krajów, które doświadczyły transformacji systemowej, oraz wskazano różnice występujące pomiędzy Europą Północną, Zachodnią, Południową i Środkowo-Wschodnią. Uzyskane wnioski są spójne z rezultatami otrzymanymi przez innych badaczy na podstawie innych baz danych i przy zastosowaniu różnych metod.

Papal attention towards the elderly makes us aware that we witness more and more distinct and prophetic perception of an important issue of the elderly. Due to prolongation of human lifespan one can observe such issues as: how to fill one’s time, how to form intergenerational relationships (due to the disappearance of intergenerational transmission), how to find the vocation for the elderly and how a younger generation could become more open to the elderly. Speaking to the elderly and the youth, John Paul II reached to the memory of his generation to recall and reshape the ideas of generational coexistence which are not always and not everywhere implemented. Younger generations do not always have only good experience. On the basis of papal speeches the article presents the notion and significance of multigenerational family and the notion of old age. We show the opinion of John Paul II concerning intergenerational dialogue, mission of the elderly, their essential role in the life of a family, society and the Church and concerning the activities of the society and Church for the benefit of the elderly. Most papal speeches are the appeal of the Head of the Church to respect the lives of the elderly.
