W artykule zaprezentowano podstawowe pojęcia związane z problematyką strategii produktu i metod oraz technik wykorzystywanych w jej budowaniu. Omówiono metodykę budowania strategii produktu w przedsiębiorstwie oraz scharakteryzowano podstawową grupę metod i technik wykorzystywaną w formułowaniu strategii produktu, tj. metody i techniki z zakresu analizy strategicznej. Dokonano klasyfikacji metod i technik, przyjmując różne kryteria.

The product strategy is determined by many factors whose identification and evaluation is necessary for the strategy development. The analysis of the factors shaping the formulation of a given product strategy and the selection of the most effective strategy among all available options is possible due to the application of various methods and detailed techniques for the particular stages of the product strategy methodology. The task of the managers and employees involved in the development of the product strategy is the right selection of the applicable solutions worked out on the basis of numerous scientific disciplines including: organisation and management, marketing, finance, mathematics, statistics and others. Developing the strategy various methods should be applied in order to consider as many different factors as possible so that the selected products strategies could be implemented to the greatest benefit of the company. In this article the basic concepts related to the product strategy are presented as well as the methods and techniques used in the strategy creation. The paper describes the methodology of product strategy development in an enterprise and it characterizes the basic group of the methods and techniques used in product strategy formulation, cf "strategic analysis - methods and techniques". Moreover, due to the abundance and big variety of the methods and techniques that can be applied in product strategy development, they have been classified according to the different criteria.

Artykuł przedstawia syntetyczne ujęcie kształtowania koncepcji produktu w fazie wprowadzania na rynek na przykładzie branży budowlanej. Analiza sporządzona została na potrzeby przedsiębiorstwa handlowo-usługowego działającego w branży budowlanej, a dotyczy nowego technologicznego rozwiązania w procesie uszczelniania przed penetracją wody (powłoki hydroizolacyjne).

The process of launching of a new product on the market is a test of technical qualities selection accuracy and the marketing concept of a product. A high level of risk due to unacquaintance of an offered product on the market accompanies this stage. This is particularly important if the process before appearance of a new product on the market was very expensive, e.g. a lot of funds was spent on research and development. Anyway, not only the level of applied technology decides on success on the market. It is crucial to prepare a marketing concept of the product that would be the basis to determine other instruments influencing the market. The preparation of the product's offer should start with determination of the novelty level both for a company and the market. This analysis would enable to choose the strategy: if the product is not a genuine novelty it is possible to base on previous experiences and the analysis of launching process of similar goods. If the product is defined as a new one all preparatory works would include a thorough analysis and risk minimalization. The strategy of launching of a product on the market covers many aspects of the market offer development but the product policy has a leading role.

Artykuł zawiera charakterystykę rozwoju przemysłu spirytusowego w Polsce w latach 1991-1998 przez pryzmat Polmosu Białystok. Działalność innowacyjna Polmosu Białystok koncentrowała się na udoskonalaniu już istniejących produktów oraz na wprowadzaniu do swojej oferty nowych wyrobów. Uzupełnieniem innowacji produktowych w przedsiębiorstwie były innowacje w zakresie sprzedaży. Dotyczyły one znalezienia nowych kanałów zbytu oraz wprowadzenia nowych form promocji.

The paper presents the characteristics of the alcohol industry segment in last six years basing on the example of "Polmos" Białystok. In the author's opinion in order to survive on the distillery industry market there are the following indispensable conditions: marketing research, a permanent promotion of new products, attractive packaging and ultimate quality. Innovation is considered to be one of the main elements to compete with Western companies. The paper thoroughly analyses the process and ways of developing of a new product as well as changes regarding the sales. The research shows motives of introduction of new product innovations that first of all come from competition on domestic market.

The paper analyses innovation as a strategy of launching a new product. It covers the characteristics of the household products sector in Poland. Main features of a new product and ways of its introduction on the market are presented basing on the example of the product called "Perła". The final conclusion says that innovation concerning a new product remains a crucial element of competition and contributes to a better economic efficiency of a company.
