Przedmiotem rozważań podjętych w artykule jest empatia. Wstępne określenie sposobu jej rozumienia oraz znaczenia, jakie odgrywa w realizacji zawodów pomocowych, w tym związanych z działalnością pedagogiczną i rehabilitacyjną, dało podstawę do analizy wyników badań własnych. Zrealizowano je z udziałem pedagogów specjalnych pracujących z osobami z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną oraz studentów kierunku pedagogika specjalna (specjalność oligo- lub tyflo-oligofrenopedagogika). Poziom empatii w jej wymiarze globalnym oraz w zakresie syndromów, odzwierciedlających złożoność zjawiska, określono za pomocą Kwestionariusza Rozumienia Empatycznego Innych Ludzi A. Węglińskiego. Charakter stwierdzonych różnic międzygrupowych nie pozwala stwierdzić określonej tendencji w zakresie nasilenia empatii. Założenie o złożoności zjawiska było podstawą przeprowadzenia analiz wielowymiarowych pozwalających określić u badanych osób określone typy empatii.

The focus of this article is on empathy. An initial definition of its understanding and importance in helping professions, including those linked to education and rehabilitation, formed the basis for the analysis of the author’s own research. Special educators who work with individuals with intellectual disabilities and special education students (majoring in the education of people with intellectual disabilities and the education of people with visual impairments) participated in this research. The level of empathy in its global dimension and in the scope of its syndromes reflecting the complexity of the phenomenon were determined with the use of the Questionnaire of Empathic Understanding of Other People (Kwestionariusz Rozumienia Empatycznego Innych Ludzi ) by A. Węgliński. The nature of differences between the groups that was discovered was insufficient to find any specific tendency in the intensity of empathy. The hypothesis about the complexity of the phenomenon gave the basis for conducting multidimensional analyses that were used to determine specific types of empathy among the participants.
