Opieka pielęgniarska nad przebywającym w domu dzieckiem z guzem mózgu w terminalnym stadium choroby

Dzieci dotknięte nieuleczalnymi chorobami, w tym chorobami nowotworowymi, to grupa pacjentów wymagająca specjalnej opieki i pielęgnacji. Niniejsza praca określa rolę pielęgniarki w opiece nad dzieckiem nieuleczalnie chorym, przebywającym w domu oraz ukazuje znaczenie całościowego podejścia, uwzględniającego fizyczne, emocjonalne, społeczne i duchowe aspekty pielęgnacji i opieki. W przypadku dziecka w terminalnym stadium choroby istotne jest umiejętne przygotowanie rodziny do asystowania w procesie jego odchodzenia. Nie ma odpowiedniego czasu na chorobę i umieranie. Choroba zawsze pojawia się nie w porę, wprowadzając zamęt i chaos w życiu całej rodziny, dziecko zaś pozbawia dzieciństwa, radości i beztroski. Pielęgniarka musi zmierzyć się z reakcjami emocjonalnymi pacjentów w różnych stadiach choroby nowotworowej, reakcjami emocjonalnymi rodziny umierającego dziecka, a także własnymi odczuciami. Niezwykle istotne jest wskazanie znaczenia terminalnej opieki paliatywnej, określanej mianem towarzyszenia, czuwania, bycia z dzieckiem nieuleczalnie chorym lub umierającym, opieki, która niesie pomoc rodzinie nie tylko podczas trwania choroby, ale również w okresie żałoby po utracie dziecka.

Children afflicted with incurable diseases, including cancer, are a group of patients who need special care and nursing. Presented thesis determines the role of a nurse in taking care of a terminally ill child, who stays at home and shows the meaning of an overall attitude, noting psychical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects rof taking care and nursing. In case of a terminally ill child very important is accompanying in the process of his/her passing away. There is no perfect time for disease and dying. The illness always appears not on time, making confusion and chaos in the life of the whole family and the child is deprived of the childhood, joy and carelessness. The nurse has to deal with emotional reactions of patients in different stages of cancer, emotional reactions of a family of a dying child and also her own feelings. Extremely important is to indicate undeniable meaning of a paliative care, terminally determined as accompaniment, watching, being with the incurable ill or dying child, which brings the family help not only during the illness but also during mourning after losing the child.
