The Use of the Method of Derivational Nests in Surdologopedic Therapy

The method of derivational nests can be applied in teaching of Polish as a foreign language. As there are analogies between surdologopedics and glottodidactics, it would be in order to consider the possibilities of its application in the linguistic training of hearing-impaired persons. The specificity of language disorders caused by limitations of auditory perception significantly influences, however, the characteristic features of undertaken therapeutic measures: it enables only a selective use of the achievements of other disciplines. The paper discusses the possibilities of the application of the nest method in working with deaf or hard-of-hearing persons, and presents examples of proposed exercises.

Metoda gniazd słowotwórczych znalazła swoje zastosowanie w dydaktyce języka polskiego jako obcego. Z racji analogii pomiędzy surdologopedią i glottodydaktyką należałoby zastanowić się nad możliwościami jej wykorzystania w kształceniu językowym osób z uszkodzonym słuchem. Specyfika zaburzeń językowych spowodowanych ograniczeniami percepcji słuchowej wpływa jednak znacząco na charakterystykę podejmowanych działań terapeutycznych – pozwala wyłącznie na wybiórcze korzystanie z dorobku innych dyscyplin. Artykuł zawiera omówienie możliwości zastosowania metody gniazdowej w pracy z osobami niesłyszącymi lub słabosłyszącymi wraz z przykładowymi propozycjami ćwiczeniowymi.

The paper discusses the problem of the selection of lexical exercises for children with impaired hearing with regard to their difficulties with the acquisition of the meanings of words and in relation to grammatical exercises and exercises enhancing linguistic communication. The starting point is the adoption of the assumption that the semantic level of words develops fully and properly only in the context in which the words are used. According to the results of research carried out in the field of language acquisition and learning, and taking the developmental regularities into account, a skilful combination of lexical-semantic and grammatical exercises with communication exercises is conducive to effectively learning the lexis and is a direct reference to the principles of language development during the process of natural development.

W artykule poruszony jest problem doboru ćwiczeń leksykalnych dla dzieci z uszkodzonym słuchem pod kątem ich trudności z przyswajaniem warstwy znaczeniowej słów oraz w relacji do ćwiczeń gramatycznych i ćwiczeń usprawniających komunikację językową. Punktem wyjścia jest przyjęcie założenia, że warstwa znaczeniowa słów kształtuje się właściwie i w pełni dopiero w kontekście, w jakim te słowa są używane. Zgodnie z wynikami badań prowadzonych na gruncie glottodydaktyki oraz z uwzględnieniem prawidłowości rozwojowych, umiejętne połączenie ćwiczeń leksykalno-semantycznych i gramatycznych z ćwiczeniami komunikacyjnymi sprzyja efektywnemu uczeniu się leksyki i stanowi bezpośrednie nawiązanie do zasad kształtowania się języka w procesie naturalnego rozwoju.
