Architektura proekologiczna to aktualny i modny trend, wzmacniany przez politykę zrównoważonego rozwoju oraz ekonomiczne przesłanki rynku nieruchomości. Architekci, aby wdrożyć ekologiczne rozwiązania, proponują wiele ciekawych sposobów, wśród których zauważalne są dwie tendencje. Jedna oparta na wdrożeniach nowoczesnych technologii i druga hołdująca logice i oryginalności myśli inżynierskiej wynikającej z obserwacji natury. Renzo Piano, włoski architekt, laureat Nagrody Pritzkera z 1998 roku w mistrzowski sposób łączy te dwa podejścia tworząc wyjątkową jakość architektury proekologicznej, czego przykładem jest m.in. budynek siedziby gazety “The New York Times” w Nowym Jorku.

Pro-ecological architecture is a current trend, reinforced by the policy of sustainable development and economic premises of real estate. Architects, in order to implement ecological solutions into the design, offer many interesting solutions, among which two tendencies are the most noticeable. The first, based on the usage of new technologies and the second, fostering the logic and originality of engineering thought resulting from the observation of nature. Renzo Piano, an Italian architect and the winner of 1998 Pritzker Prize, masterfully combines these two approaches, thus creating an outstanding and unique quality of ecological architecture. The presented building of The New York Times magazine in New York is an excellent example of this philosophy.
