Celem artykułu jest analiza i ocena doświadczeń w zakresie funkcjonowania rad nadzorczych w badanych firmach rodzinnych, w tym określenie czynników decydujących o powołaniu rady, oceny jej przydatności i aktywności oraz oczekiwań związanych z jej działaniem. Przeprowadzone badania miały charakter jakościowy, a wykorzystaną techniką gromadzenia danych była technika wywiadu. Otrzymane wyniki badań wskazują na stosunkową małą przydatność rady dla zarządzających firmą rodzinną właścicieli. W dużej mierze wynika to z braku rozdziału własności od zarządzania, mało skomplikowanej struktury własności, jak również skali działania badanych firm rodzinnych.

The aim of the paper is an analysis and assessment of experience in the realm of supervisory board activity in the researched family firms, including the identification of factors behind board appointment, evaluation of its usefulness and activities, and expectations connected with its operations. The character of the conducted research was qualitative. The technique used to gather data involved interviews. The research results received indicate relatively little usefulness of such boards for owners managing family firms.
