Artykuł stanowi syntezę informacji na temat systemu doradztwa rolniczego w Polsce oraz jego roli w stymulowaniu rozwoju obszarów wiejskich. Przybliża prawne uwarunkowania działalności ośrodków doradztwa rolniczego. Identyfikuje najważniejsze zalety oraz wady polskiego systemu. Badaniu poddana zostaje również adekwatność zasobów będących w posiadaniu regionalnych ośrodków doradztwa rolniczego do liczby potencjalnych beneficjentów usług doradczych. Bazując na tych obserwacjach, ośrodki doradztwa rolniczego usytuowane zostają w przestrzeni instytucjonalnego otoczenia wsi.

The article is a synthesis of information on the farming advisory system in Poland and its role in stimulating rural development. It presents legal determinants of business advisory centers and identifies the major advantages and disadvantages of the Polish system. Subject of the study is also adequacy of the resources held by the regional agricultural advisory centers to the number of potential beneficiaries of consultancy services. Based on these observations, agricultural advisory centers role in the rural institutional environment is determined.
