Opracowanie porusza zagadnienie kompetencji nauczyciela nauczania początkowego. Podkreśla specyfikę i znaczenie tego etapu w edukacji dziecka. W opracowaniu podjęto w ujęciu teoretycznym i praktycznym problem kompetencji wychowawczych nauczycieli wczesnej edukacji oraz ukazano ich istotę w pracy z dzieckiem w młodszym wieku szkolnym. W kontekście innych kompetencji oczekiwanych od współczesnego nauczyciela zaprezentowano wyniki badań nad postrzeganiem przez studentów poziomu przygotowania nauczycieli do realizacji funkcji wychowawczych w klasach początkowych szkoły podstawowej.

The following study discusses the issue of primary education teachers’ competence. It emphasizes the specificity and significance of this stage in the child’s education. Furthermore, the study also addresses the theoretical and practical problem of educational competences of early education teachers, and shows their essence in working with children at early school age. The author of the study presents the results of the research on the students’ perception of the level of teachers’ preparation for the performance of their educational functions in primary school classes, discussing it in the context of other competences a contemporary teacher is expected to have.
