IT Solutions in Transport Management of Liquid Fuels. Case Study of Grupa Lotos

The aim of the article is to present innovative IT solution for monitoring transport in the process of fuel distribution, which was implemented in Grupa Lotos in January 2013. Hardware and software requirements of the system as well as the functional and task-oriented structure were described in the article. In contrast with other standard applications supporting the management of liquid fuel supply chain it is a unique solution, which considerably contributes to a significant reduction of the levels of losses and extraordinarily increases the safety and quality of delivered goods. It is a tool which may become an important source of competitive edge during stagnation in the market of fuels.

Was the necessity to start distance learning a big surprise for teachers? Were they able to cope with modern technology and meet the expectations of students and the whole society? Looking for answers to these basic questions today, an opinion poll was conducted among teachers and parents of students from grades 1–3 of primary school. The obtained results confirm that, despite some difficulties encountered in the implementation of the didactic tasks, the teachers passed an exam that was difficult for them.

Czy konieczność podjęcia nauczania zdalnego była dużym zaskoczeniem dla nauczycieli? Czy potrafili poradzić sobie z nowoczesną technologią i sprostać oczekiwaniom uczniów i całego społeczeństwa? Poszukując odpowiedzi na te podstawowe dzisiaj pytania przeprowadzono sondaż opinii wśród nauczycieli i rodziców uczniów z klas I–III szkoły podstawowej. Uzyskane wyniki potwierdzają, że mimo pewnych trudności napotykanych w trakcie realizacji zadań dydaktycznych, nauczyciele zdali trudny dla nich egzamin.

Efektywność technologii IT w bankach komercyjnych w Polsce

Głównym celem pracy jest określenie efektywności technicznej technologii IT w bankach komercyjnych w Polsce. Badania obejmują 13 banków komercyjnych w latach 2014-2017. W pracy wykorzystano nieparametryczną metodę DEA. Zastosowano w niej model BCC o zmiennych efektach skali zorientowany na efekty. Nakładami technologii IT w DEA były takie zmienne, jak: wartość oprogramowania IT, wartość sprzętu teleinformatycznego i koszty eksploatacji technologii IT, efektami zaś liczba użytkowników bankowości internetowej i liczba użytkowników bankowości mobilnej. Z badań wynika, że spośród wszystkich uwzględnionych banków tylko sześć wykazywało maksymalną efektywność techniczną technologii IT równą 100%, pozostałe banki były relatywnie nieefektywne i odznaczały się wskaźnikami efektywności w przedziale od 22 do 99%.

The main purpose of this study is to determine the technical efficiency of IT technology in commercial banks in Poland. The research covers 13 commercial banks over the period 2014‑2017. A non-parametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with standard BCC, or variable returns to scale, model oriented on outputs was adopted. The DEA inputs for IT technology were represented by such variables as: value of IT software, value of ICT equipment and costs of IT technology exploitation, while DEA outputs included: number of Internet banking users and number of mobile banking users. According to the obtained results, only six out of all investigated banks achieved maximum efficiency scores for IT technology, i.e. equal to 100%, while the remaining banks were relatively inefficient with efficiency scores ranging from 22% to 99%.
