W ujęciu prakseologicznym proponuje budzenie wrażliwości i odpowiedzialności wobec kwestii ekologicznych, kształtowanie świadomości ekologicznej, edukację ekologiczną, obecność tematyki ekologicznej w kerygmacie Kościoła i w teologii pastoralnej.
It is surprising that Karl Rahner (1904-1984), as a systematic theologian, provided essential impulses for practical theology. But he played an important role in planning and editing the "Handbuch der Pastoraltheologie" (1964-1972). The basis for this work was Rahners view of practical theology as a science of the self-fulfillment of the church in the respective current situation. However, this ecclesial conception of pastoral theology soon encountered opposition. On the other hand, his demand for a “new mystagogy” was often taken up for concepts of mystagogical pastoral care and mystagogical learning.
In 2014 we had the 10th anniversary of the death of prominent Polish pastoral theologian Fr. prof. A.L. Szafrański. This is a good opportunity to remind his achievements, not only in relation to his writings, but also in the field of his scientific, organizational and pastoral activities. A large part of his life was devoted to research and teaching work at the Catholic University of Lublin. Nevertheless, he was a priest of the Diocese of Kielce, and in a period of his life he realized his vocation in that local church, leaving unforgettable traces. This paper presents the most important scientific, organizational and pastoral achievements of Fr. prof. Szafrański in the Diocese of Kielce.

W 2014 roku przypadła 10 rocznica śmierci wybitnego polskiego pastoralisty, ks. prof. A.L.
In 2014 we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the death of Fr. A.L. Szafrański, professor at the Catholic University of Lublin. This is an opportunity to re-examine his scientific output. This article presents the achievement of Szafrański on the history of theological thought, concept of pastoral theology, theology of the parish, and theology of signs of the times – called kairology. Szafrański's pastoral theology can be defined as alive, dynamic, existential and constantly seeking theology. It is a theology of human beings and human culture, and theology of dialogue with modern world, problems of modern society and its changes. Szafrański was returning permanently to the fundamental sources of theology – the Holy Scripture and the Tradition, but he always remained sensitive to the signs of the times in which he tried to hear the voice of God speaking in the history of the world and man, but also in the community of the Church. It seems this style of pastoral theology, Szafrański left to his disciples as a model, is still up to date and relevant to the challenges facing the Church in Poland at the beginning of the XXI century.

W 2014 roku przypadła 10 rocznica śmierci Profesora KUL, ks. A.L. Wracając stale do fundamentalnych źródeł teologii – do Pisma Świętego i Tradycji, ks. A.L.
The Catholic Church, wanting to effectively realize its saving mission, needs reflection that will help adapt methods and forms of pastoral activity to the circumstances of the place and time in which it operates. Pastoral theology responds to this demand by undertaking a space of interdisciplinary research on the current time of the Church's existence. On theological grounds, it is necessary to develop pastoral sociology, whose main goal is to collect and systematize knowledge of general sociology useful in pastoral care and its specific varieties, especially the sociology of religion and sociology of Catholicism. It allows the application of sociological knowledge to a specific area of research regarding pastoral activity and its theological interpretation. Pastoral sociology, however, is not merely interpretative. It also claims the right to use sociological knowledge in establishing norms and principles that will serve the effective development of pastoral activity.

Kościół katolicki, chcąc skutecznie realizować swoją zbawczą misję, potrzebuje refleksji, która pomoże dostosować metody i formy działalności duszpasterskiej do okoliczności, miejsca i czasu, w którym funkcjonuje.
Reverend Professor Jan Wal in his research and didactic work has shown the directions of the revival of pastorate and the need of changes in thinking and in pastoral activities. Undoubtedly his research has contributed to a revival of the concept of pastoral theology in Poland. The main fields he worked on were making both the clergy and the laity more sensitive to the social dimension of pastorate and evangelization, the need of a dialog in the Church and in the Polish society, making charity theology more profound, and intensification of charity work.
W. Piwowarskiego i R. Kamińskiego.

Theological fields of study are commonly divided into historical, systematic, and practical ones. Pastoral theology belongs undoubtedly to the last group. What is more, it does really cooperate with those fields, relying mostly on the normative factors in order to reach its own conclusions. Not to mention, a set of deductive methods that pastoral theologians use and which are typical of the historical and systematic theology. However, those deductive methods are ineffective in the context of the challenges that the contemporary pastoral theology must face. The aim of such a theology is to create models of redemptory activity of individuals as well as various groups of Christians. The models must meet the latest socio-cultural demands. In order to propose models of effective redemptory activity, it is necessary to analyze regularly the dynamic social reality of the Church. This in turn demands using inductive methods. The difficulty to carry out such new research in pastoral theology, also known as practical theology, lies in the appropriate combination of both deductive and inductive methods. In this context, the scientific question of methodological paradigms in pastoral theology is raised. According to Cardijn’s paradigm, the redeeming situation should be recognized, then judged in line with theological criteria, and, on the basis of this confrontation, draw pastoral conclusions about the current activity of the Church. The paradigm of three-stage theological-pastoral analysis is used often in Poland, especially in the KUL (John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin) environment, the foundations of which were laid by the authors representing ecclesiological fields of pastoral theology (K. Rahner, H. Schuster, F. Klostermann). The paradigm of analysis of praxeological ministerial activities refers to the general theory of action, in which the particular elements of actions are analysed, i.e. the aim, object, subject (the environment), methods, means, as well as historical, social and cultural conditions, etc. A good command of methodological paradigms seems to be indispensable to carry out studies and start reflection in pastoral theology.

The relation of theory and praxis is a key problem of pastoral theology, important from the point of view of understanding this discipline and developing its proper methodology. Church activity, although it is in a constitutive relation with faith, cannot be derived directly from theory, that is from dogmatic or moral theorems. The achievements of contemporary philosophical thought and humanistic sciences, as well as the development of theological reflection in the twentieth century, allow us to state that practice also has something to say about the theory and actively influences the creation of a pastoral project. So theory and praxis are constantly in dialectical reciprocity. The term, proposed by S. Lanza, indicates their constitutive and inviolable correlation, and at the same time suggests the dynamism of their interaction. They must be distinguished from each other, but they cannot be separated. None of these categories can also dominate the other. They must constantly develop in a dialogical structure.
