The paper is a review of homonymy (in a broad sense of the term) in two Slavic languages: Polish and Belarusian. Different types of homonyms were described and compared. At the beginningof the article one can find many different Polish and Belarusian definitions of homonymy. The examples of homonyms were taken from dictionaries, books and films. The analysis showsthat homonyms in two Slavic languages are very similar but very strong difference one can find inaccent.

The article examines the traditional forms of addressing an interlocutor in the Belarusian language. It focuses on the use of anthroponyms when addressing someone, the use of phrases with suffixes of subjective evaluation and the use of vocative and clipped noun forms functioning when addressing an interlocutor. The conclusion put forward is that there is a national specificity in the use of this form of addressing an interlocutor in the Belarusian language.

W artykule analizowane są tradycyjne formy zwracania się do interlokutora w języku białoruskim. Artykuł skupia się na używanych w tej funkcji antroponimach, wyrażeniach z przyrostkami oceny subiektywnej, krótkich formach i wołaczu rzeczowników. Z analizy wynika, że istnieje pewna specyfika narodowa posługiwania się tymi formami zwracania się do rozmówcy w języku białoruskim.

W artykule mówi się o ewolucji gatunkowej i tematycznej krótkich utworów prozatorskich znanego pisarza białoruskiego Janki Bryla (1917–2006), nazywanych w terminologii białoruskiej „miniaturami lirycznymi”, które uprawiał w ostatnich czterdziestu latach życia. J. Bryl rozpoczyna od ulotnych zapisów swoich obserwacji i przemyśleń dotyczących życia codziennego i stopniowo zagłębia się w problematykę ogólnoludzką – losu, twórczości, przemijania, śmierci, przeznaczenia. W artykule podkreślono znaczenie i wpływ osobistych przeżyć Bryla na kształtowanie się jego pisarskiej osobowości oraz na sposoby ich wykorzystania w tego rodzaju prozie.

The article discusses the genre and thematic evolution of short pieces of prose written by the famous Belarusian writer Yanka Bryl (1917–2006). They are known in the Belarusian terminology as “lyrical miniatures” and they were written in the last forty years of his life. Bryl begins with elusive records of his observations and thoughts about everyday life and gradually goes into general human issues, such as fate, creativity, passing of time, death, destiny. The article emphasizes the importance and influence of Bryl’s personal experience on his formation as a writer and on the way the experience is used in this genre of prose.

Artykuł jest poświęcony kształtowaniu się idei narodowej w okresie formowania nowej literatury białoruskiej (XIX w.). Konsolidacja etniczno-kulturalna ludu białoruskiego, kształtowanie się zrębów nacji białoruskiej, charakteryzujące się powrotem do historycznych korzeni narodowych, kultury i języka ojczystego przebiegało w trudnych warunkach społecznych i politycznych. Przywrócenie pamięci historycznej i duchowej spuścizny narodu białoruskiego było wyraźnym impulsem dla pisarzy, a ich twórczość z kolei kształtowała ideę narodową, świadome dążenie do „stania się narodem”. Poszerzone o dotychczas jakby „niczyje” teksty badania literaturoznawcze otwierały nowe możliwości wyznaczania kierunku kształtowania się idei narodowej.

The article is devoted to the forming process of national idea in Belarusian literature (20th century). Ethnic-cultural consolidation of Belarusian people, shaping of Belarusian nation proceeded in rough conditions. The restoration of historical memory and spiritual heritage of the Belarusian nation was a clear impulse to writers whose literary works shaped national idea, conscious striving for becoming a nation. Literary studies extended by so called nobody’s texts opened new possibilities to set new directions in the field of national idea.
