The article presents Didymus the Blind’s teaching on the Holy Spirit. It is to be noticed that continues and develops the principles of Saint Athanasius’ pneumatology. Didymus rejects the opinion of the tropiko… that the Holy Spirit belongs to the created beings. Didymus underlines that the Spirit is equal to the Son and the Father, and consequently He belongs to the Holy Trinity. The Spirit is holy, but He did not receive His holiness; He has wisdom, but he did not receive it from anybody; He knows everything without learning. There is no change in the nature of the Holy Spirit. Holiness and wisdom and other qualities belong to His nature. He possesses them eternally and He cannot lose them. The Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit possess the same substance within the Trinity, but their missions are different. The three Divine Persons operate together ad extra, i.e. outside of the Trinity for the salvation of the people.

Artykuł przedstawia nauczanie Dydyma Ślepego o Duchu Świętym. Daje się zauważyć, że kontynuuje on i rozwija główne punkty pneumatologii św. Atanazego.

The purpose of this article is to show Mary as an icon of the sacramental lifestyle in the Holy Spirit. The iconic character of Mary’s life consists above all in the manifestation, not her own, but received on the day of the Annunciation, the new life – Jesus Christ. Mary does not teach the doctrine, does not describe God, does not create abstract concepts about Him, but allows us to experience His real presence. From the very beginning, the Church also participates in the iconic style of Mary’s life, showing the accepted novelty to the world. Christians have neither borrowed nor copied this sacramental lifestyle from anyone. This is something completely original, something that the world cannot give them, but they can give it to the world.

The question of the place of the Holy Spirit in the Orthodox Ecclesiology is not a new one, but it still remains open. In this article special attention is devoted to the Eucharistic Ecclesiology of Nicholas Afanasiev, in which he has tried to give to the Person of the Holy Spirit an essential place, and to the ecclesiological ideas of George Florovsky, who in his theological constructions has been extreme Christocentric and has avoided to give a special place to the oikonomia of the Spirit. A particular remark is made also about the possibility of using the neo-patristic synthesis in the discussion (with special reference the texts of St. Basil the Great, St. Athanasius of Alexandria and Didymus the Blind).
This article addresses the issue of the motivation of the fundamental order of love for God and the neighbour which Saint Basil the Great used in his doctrine.Based on an analysis of the texts of Saint Basil, this article demonstrates the intimate relationship that should exist between the love for God and the love for man. The ideal of this relationship is represented, according to the analysis, by Jesus Christ, the only Saviour of the world.
The complicated notion of tradition in Catholic theology is analyzed from the point of view of the relationship existing between word and deed in the process of transmission of the Divine Revelation. The carried out analyzes lead to the conclusion that Tradition is not a word or deed (verbum aut actio), but it is a word confirmed by the deed (verbum et actio), and the action is explained in words, according to the command of the Savior: “Do this in memory of me” (Lk 22:19).

Zasygnalizowano funkcję mistagogiczną utworów, które in vulgari przybliżały trudne prawdy wiary, a dzięki walorom literackim realizowały Horacjańską zasadę „docere et delectare”.

The article contains an interpretation of the song by Władysław of Gielniów, Oh Jesus, the Savior of Mankind that is a theological treatise about the Holy Spirit in verse. The explanation of references to the biblical and patristic exegetic tradition connected with theological dogmatic questions that are found in the text and presenting its cultural contexts are supposed to indicate a possibly broadest plane of meanings of the work. Attention is also paid to the motif of symbols of the Holy Spirit’s graces that is present in Władysław’s Marian poetry. The mystagogical function of the works is also mentioned; in vulgari they explained the difficult truths of the faith, and owing to the literary merits they realized the Horatian principle of “docere et delectare”.
The article deals with the role of leadership of the ordained priest. This funcion arises from Christ’s Priesthood, which obviously dierects the Church towards the Father. It happens mainly within liturgy, when a priest is a guide both in teaching and in selfoffering to the Father. An important role of a priest as a leader is to evoke in peoples’ hearts a desire for the Holy Spirit (epicletic attitude), who is the ultimate Guide leading to the full Truth. The priestly spirit of leadership is kerigmatic (proclamation of Good news) and mystagogical, because it initiates into the Mystery of salvation through activating peoples’ common priesthood.
This text deals with the pneumatological dimension of God’s mercy. Starting from the farewell speech of Christ, written by St. John the Evangelist, in which the Savior explains to the disciples that the Holy Spirit is the greatest Gift that He leaves to the Church, the author seeks to sketch a contribution to the pneumatological outlook of God’s mercy. The article begins with sketching the horizon of understanding of God’s mercy. Afterwards cognitive attention is directed towards capturing the relationship between Christ – the Incarnate Mercy of the Father – and the Holy Spirit as the Paraclete and the Person-love. The analysis crowns the horizontal dimension of mercy in which the Holy Spirit makes man experienced by the mercy of God capable of mercy toward others.

Następnie uwaga poznawcza kieruje się w stronę uchwycenia relacji pomiędzy Chrystusem – Wcielonym miłosierdziem Ojca – a Duchem Świętym, będącym Parakletem i Osobą-Miłością.

Formation of an ecclesial community constitutes the basic moral call arising from reception of the sacrament of confirmation. Formation of the person should also aim at accomplishing this objective. The Holy Spirit given in the sacrament of confirmation plays a fundamental role in building the Church. Opening up to the gift of the Holy Spirit and submission to His direction allows to find the proper place in the Church and accept full responsibility for destiny of the Church. The ecclesiological role of the Holy Spirit in the sacrament of conformation sounds significantly in the teaching of Benedict XVI. In his speeches and documents, the Pope repeatedly brought the truth about the special power of the Holy Spirit and His gifts into building the community dimension of the life of the Church. Therefore, in this reflection – based on allocations of Pope Benedict XVI – the ecclesiological role of the Holy Spirit, coming in the sacrament of confirmation, was presented.

The Charismatic Renewal movement, in whose wake a number of evangelizing communities of prayer and new religious congregations have appeared, is nowadays identified with what is unusual – with extraordinary forms of devotion and the like phenomena. The author reminds us that 50 years ago, which is exactly when the movement began to unfold, it was perceived as one of the most significant signs of the New Pentecost, or the Holy Spirit’s intensified work in our times. Paul VI and the subsequent popes pointed to the Holy Spirit’s “intensified activity”, deeming Him to be the Reviver of the Church and the Font of the world’s new life. Alas, the mighty presence in question, as well as the Holy Spirit’s intensified activity in the Church, have been overshadowed by, on the one hand, ever-increasing focus on the part of the members of the movement under scrutiny on what in the first place satisfies the needs of people, i.e. healing and unusual phenomena; and, on the other hand, by the excessive scepticism of theologians and pastors, who for the 50 years of the Renewal existence have not equipped the faithful, unable to tell the essence from the unusualness, with their theological reflection. The author pays attention to the fact that the categories of “ordinary” and “extraordinary” with regard to the New Pentecost do not put anything in order, but, subjective as they are, they hinder the theological reflection itself. Thus, he suggests that we focus on the diff erentiation of what is the Holy Spirit’s gift from what is man’s creation. In the article he compares from this point of view two “ordinary” areas of the Holy Spirit’s activity – the baptism in the Holy Spirit and contemplative prayer. By doing so, Guzowski proves that the emphasis on the person of the Holy Spirit and His work of sanctification allows us to tell the essence of the New Pentecost from secondary issues.
Since its birth on Pentecost, the Church has received the ability to evangelize and catechize as a gift from the Holy Spirit. He is the principal author of the entire work of catechesis and the Inner Teacher of both those who teach catechism and those who are taught. Catechesis, therefore, which is growth in faith and a Christian life that matures to its fullness, is consequently the work of the Holy Spirit, a work that He incessantly awakens and sustains in the Church. Through the word of God, the Holy Spirit dwells in the human person as if in a temple and enlightens him from within and helps him to live according to the Gospel. This dwelling of the Holy Spirit in man consecrates the entire person. It is a consecration sanctifying the whole person. It is also the personalization of man: the new man (Ephesians 4:24), the new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) is the work of the Holy Spirit present in man. The Holy Spirit as the subject of catechesis is also the source of the new catechesis, which is not a new doctrine, but above all a new methodology of catechesis. The newness of catechesis lies in a new attitude and style, a new effort and program, new enthusiasm, new methods and means of influencing those taught catechism to enable them to meet anew or for the first time with Christ. It is a new awakening of the heart “by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans 5:5). Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Pentecost, the Spirit of Truth present in the Church leads everyone to all truth (cf. Jn 16:13).

Satan as “the father of lies” and ”murderer from the beginning” (Jn 8:44) is the enemyof man and of the Church that he continually intends to destroy. But Christ hasendowed his Church with the sacraments which are sources of His grace and theencounter with the Holy Trinity. As such, they constitute a powerful weapon againstthe forces of darkness. Baptism transfers humans from the power of the devil, sinand death to Kingdom of God, full of life and light. Confirmation strengthens thebaptized in the fight against traps of the demon.

The Church is the sacrament of salvation in communion and all the sacraments are the sacraments of communion – the Trinitarian economy of salvation liturgically realized in the seven evangelical signs that are in the nature of living communion between God and man. “New coming of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, and his constant presence and action in the spiritual life are accomplished in the sacramental reality. (…) The Church is the visible dispenser of the sacred signs, while the Holy Spirit acts in them as the invisible dispenser of the life which they signify. Together with the Spirit, Christ Jesus is present and acting. (…) The fullness of the salvific reality, which is Christ in history, extends in a sacramental way in the power of the Spirit Paraclete” (John Paul II, Dominum et Vivificantem, 61–64). The sacraments of the healing of communion are the Sacrament of Penance and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Guilt and sin are disruptions of communication and wounds inflicted on communion. The Holy Spirit places people in the presence of Christ and enables them to know the truth so that they can live in harmony with it. The risen Christ calls us to conversion and change of thinking, and the initiative to seek and reach out to Christ belongs also to the Holy Spirit. The process of liberating man from the bondage of sin and iniquity is always done in the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation under the influence of the Holy Spirit, who purifies and transforms all with the fire of his presence. Everyone is at risk of disease and its consequence is exclusion of society. Early Christian prayers of consecration attribute the healing effect in the bodily and spiritual realms to the holy oil, which receives power from the Holy Spirit invoked in the epicletic prayer of the Church. The effect of receiving the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a special gift of the Holy Spirit – the grace of strengthening, peace and courage in overcoming the difficulties associated with a serious illness or inadequacy of old age, renewing trust and faith in God and strengthening against the temptations of the evil spirit, discouragement and fear of death, and healing of soul and body. The words from the Letter of St. James 5:14–15 were originally a prayer of intercession of the priests of the community over the sick, combined with the symbolic laying on of hands – the solidarity of the faithful in a communicative word and a non-verbal communication symbol aimed at asking God to save a seriously ill person from the sphere of death as a breakdown in communication and to prolong life in communion with God and people. The anointing prayer also concerns the survival of the sick beyond the borders of sickness and death in the life-giving Holy Spirit and in communion with the risen Christ. The anointing of the sick celebrates the universal presence of the mission of the Son and the Holy Spirit in man and in the Church beyond sickness and death.

Do sakramentów uzdro¬wienia komunii należą sakramenty pokuty i namaszczenie chorych. Wina i grzech są zakłóceniami komunikacji i ranami zadanymi komunii. Duch Święty stawia ludzi w obecności Chrystusa i umożliwia im poznanie prawdy, by mogli żyć z nią w zgodzie. Zmartwychwstały Chrystus wzywa do nawrócenia i przemiany myślenia, a inicjatywa szukania i wychodzenia naprzeciw Chrystusowi należy też do Ducha Świętego.
The Holy Spirit in the Eucharist identifies man with Christ, and thus transforms into the sons of God and incorporates into his Body the Church. By the Holy Spirit, the Eucharist accepts the “body” of the Church. The Holy Spirit identifies the believer with the Son, transforming them into “sons in the Son.” So Christian life is nothing more than to live as God’s children, sharing in His love. In this way the whole power of the Paschal Mystery is applied in man and he is passed from death to life. The same Spirit, who “anointed” the Everlasting Word with humanity and imprinted human nature in him, is also imprinted in human hearts as a living seal to animate man with divine nature. The Holy Spirit makes a man Christlikeness in the Christ-Eucharist.

Duch Święty w Eucharystii utożsamia człowieka z Chrystusem, a w ten sposób przemienia w synów Bożych i włącza w swoje Ciało, jakim jest Kościół.
To talk about God’s love is to talk about God Himself, because “God is love” (1 John 4:8). God’s love for men is, in the teaching of John Paul II, the foundation of the papal proclamation. Its source is the inner love of the Holy Trinity. The present article discusses the statement of St. John, who says that “God is love” (1 John 4:8). This statement speaks of the essence of God in the aspect of Trinity’s inmost being and in terms of the economy of salvation. The article also takes up the issue of love of the Father and of the Son, and the question of the Holy Spirit as the Love of the Father and the Son. The Third Person of God, coming from the Father and the Son, is the Breath of Their mutual Love.

Joseph Ratzinger argues that music has a significant place in the liturgy of the Church, and thus in the profession of faith. He describes the liturgy using, above all, the term of transition: highlighting a continual re-presentation of the cosmic event of the Passover of the Lord and the personal self-transition, which influences lives of the participants. Singing and music are central axis of the process mentioned and as essential elements of the creed have accompanied the Community of Christ`s disciples since the synagogue period. To date, the Psalms are a reference point for the content and form of liturgical music, although over the centuries that area of church activity has been affected by various negative factors. Pope Emeritus, discussing contemporary problems in this case, presents two extreme approaches: he calls them the puritanical functionalism and the functionalism of adjustment. From the historical point of view they have their roots in the times of the Church Fathers. The only way to solve that kind of polarization is to apply a well interpreted dogma of Chalcedon to liturgical music. Finally, its aim is to worship God through the dialogue of love with the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is in a sense the pedagogical book, which includes God and human guidelines for the education of man and nation and shows the realization of the educational process in the history of specific people and nations. The article presents the nature, scope and objectives of education in the Bible, then the educational subjects, environments and institutions, and finally the principles of education: endowment, trust and obedience, reward and punishment, attendance, trial, continuous process. The author uses the data contained in the Sacred Scripture, completing them with information from Judaic sources. The biblical model of education proves to be integral and effective, forms the mature people and communities, and leads them to participate in the life of God, the supreme Educators in the person of Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

W artykule przedstawione zostały charakter, zakres i cele wychowania w Biblii, następnie podmioty, środowiska i instytucje wychowawcze, a na koniec zasady wychowania: obdarowanie, zaufanie i posłuszeństwo, nagroda i kara, obecność, próba, nieustanny proces. Biblijny model wychowania okazuje się integralny i skuteczny, kształtuje dojrzałych ludzi i wspólnoty i prowadzi je do udziału w życiu Boga, najwyższego Wychowawcy w osobie Chrystusa i w mocy Ducha Świętego.
