Komunikat jest próbą ukazania dwóch koncepcji uprawiania pedagogiki jako nauki i działania praktycznego. Pierwszą preferuje środowisko akademickie i jako pedagogika „akademicka” charakteryzuje się społeczną izolacją, ograniczeniem środowiskowym, dominacją refleksji intelektualnej i poznawczej. W rezultacie jest to formuła swoistej bezsilności wobec wszelkich niekorzystnych przemian i strategii rozwojowych. Drugi styl uprawiania pedagogiki, to pedagogika działania. Zjawiska oceniane jako szkodliwe są zmieniane w działaniu, np. likwidowane szkoły są dalej prowadzone w innym porządku administracyjnym, jako instytucje niezależne od struktur państwowych. W tym działaniu widać pozytywną determinację, podczas gdy w pierwszym dominuje obezwładniająca bezradność wobec nieprzyjaznej rzeczywistości. Z takiej strategii działania narodziła się pedagogika społeczna.

The message of this paper attempts to show two concepts of the practice of pedagogy, understood as a science and practical activity. The first is favoured by academic circles and as such, academic pedagogy is characterised by social isolation, environmental limitation and the dominance of intellectual and cognitive reflection. In result, it becomes a formula of powerlessness towards all adverse changes and negative developmental strategies. The second style of pedagogical practice is represented by pedagogy of action. Phenomenon considered to be harmful are changed through practical action. For instance, schools that are predestined to be closed down are able to continue to run under a new administrative structure as institutions independent from central government. In such activities one may observe a positive determination, whilst the concept described at the beginning is dominated by overwhelming helplessness in the face of hostile reality. Out of the more engaged active strategy, social pedagogy was born.
