The paper presents a theoretical model of discourse about terrorism, indicating the need to consider while communicating, a number of cultural factors that create a “spiral of terrorism”, both internal – essentials as well as external – socially constructed. It points to the importance of an essentialist approach vs. a constructionist approach in presenting and explaining the phenomena of terrorism in the public space. It also points to conditions associated with a different concept of “I” in diverse cultures and its impact on phenomena interpretation and behavior. Attention is drawn to the importance of the language used by participants in the discourse about terrorism that facilitates or not, the insight and view of the reality in which terrorism occurs.
