Artykuł porusza kwestię istotnej roli sztuki współczesnej w edukacji dorosłych w obszarze tolerancji wobec szeroko rozumianej inności. Edukacja nieformalna jest jednym z najistotniejszych źródeł zdobywania wiedzy przez dorosłych, a sztuka współczesna jest doskonałym przykładem tak rozumianej przestrzeni edukacyjnej. Autorka, skupiając się przede wszystkim na działaniach teatru współczesnego, opisuje trzy jego wymiary, w których dokonuje się edukacja nieformalna dorosłych w odniesieniu do postaw tolerancji – jest to wymiar instytucjonalny teatru, wymiar eksperymentalny oraz warsztatowe formy teatralne. We wszystkich tych wymiarach dostrzec można konkretne narzędzia, którymi wobec widza posługuje się teatr współczesny. Autorka dokonuje opisu i klasyfikacji tych narzędzi, ukazując mechanizmy ich edukacyjnego oddziaływania.

The article addresses the vital role of the contemporary art in the adult education in the area of tolerance in view of widely understood otherness. Non-formal education is one of the most important sources of knowledge acquisition by adults, and the contemporary art is a great example of such educational space. The author of this article mainly focusing on the activities of the contemporary theatre, describes its three dimensions, in which non-formal education of adults towards tolerant attitudes occurs- it is the institutional dimension of the theatre, experimental dimension as well as workshop-like theatrical forms. Tangible means are noticed in all these dimensions, which are used in the presence of a spectator by the contemporary art. The author describes and categorizes those means, presenting the mechanisms of their educational impact.
