The aim of this study was to present the tool used to identify, analyse and diagnose students’ motivation to study. The research is based on the Self Determination Theory. This research included 442 students of tourism and recreation at three types of universities. The Academic Motivation Scale was used and the method of the diagnostic survey using the questionnaire technique was applied. Results indicated that the respondents were a homogeneous group. The students scored the highest on two subscales of extrinsic motivation (external regulation and identification) and on the subscale of intrinsic motivation to know. Results revealed significant difference between female students of different universities regarding amotivation. Female students of the university of economics scored higher on amotivation than female students of other universities. Diagnosis of students’ motivation requires regular monitoring and should be done at least two times every education cycle. The most alarming result regarding students’ motivation to study is the high, or even soaring level of amotivation. Conversely, the internal motivation is the most autonomous and therefore the most desirable type of motivation for students and should be nurtured. Internal motivation refers to the act of doing something for the sole pleasure of the activity, excluding the external structure of punishment and reward, the so-called “carrot and stick” method.

The objective of this study was to indicate the actions undertaken by the authorities of the Gorce National Park to boost the development of tourism and recreation, highlight fields for cooperation with local government bodies, and evaluate this cooperation as well as identifying problems, and to develop a strategy for developing tourism and recreation in the study area. The result of the survey indicated that both local government officials and the national park authorities generally view positively, the joint actions undertaken. The majority of gmina and poviat representatives work, together with park employees, on the implementation of tasks aimed at developing tourism and recreational activities. In the survey, numerous advantages of having a national park in the given local government area were listed, including the increased attractiveness of the area to tourists. The disadvantages mentioned included, primarily, restrictions on investments. In the Gorce National Park hiking, biking, equestrian, and ski tourism are promoted. In the surrounding areas the model of tourism should be developed in line with the principle of sustainable development, taking into account the opinions and needs of local residents. A regional partnership for tourism and creation of tourist products should be formed, centred on the national park. To date, an integrated offer to tourists and joint promotion activities of the gminas situated around the Gorce National Park are lacking. Also necessary are investments in recreational facilities in the nearby villages.

The main purpose of work is to determine preferred ways of spending leisure time that can be classified as tourism and recreation in two groups of people: students of the Master programme in tourism and recreation at the Faculty of Geosciences at the University of Szczecin and reception employees of hotels located in Szczecin. The group of respondents consisted of 100 students and 100 hotel employees. In each group, women is 60% and men 40%. The study was conducted as a diagnostic poll, and differences between the groups were tested for statistical significance (a χ2 NW test for p ≤ 0.05) and strength of dependence (Czuprow convergence coefficient Txy< 0;1). It was found that both groups differed in their attitudes to the practice of tourism and recreation, despite being involved in the same discipline (tourism and recreation). The difference was due to the specific requirements and limitations imposed by each group’s specific activity, i.e. education (students) and work (hotel employees). The highest differences in determinants and forms of spending leisure time that can be classified as tourism and recreation were observed between female students and hotel employees, and male students and hotel employees.

The year 2014 saw another edition of the camp of university ministries from Wrocław and Opole, held in Biały Dunajec. The camp featured over 600 participants from 14 university ministries. The main purpose of the camp was to promote the idea of active leisure in the spirit of Christianity and to prepare students for life at the university and university ministries. Among the important forms of achieving the purpose, in addition to religious practices, were leisure activities and mountain tourism. The main research question asked in the paper stems from the need to verify the effectiveness of implementing the camp programme assumptions. The authors applied the diagnostic survey method and carried out an analysis of the available source documents. The article also contains information about the valuable educational initiative addressed to Wrocław students.

Motyw to pojedyncza składowa wielowymiarowego zjawiska motywacji. Celem badań były identyfikacja, analiza i diagnoza motywacji studentów kierunku turystyka i rekreacja do podjęcia studiów w AWF Katowice. Badaniami objęto 450 studentów. Zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego techniką ankietową. Udział w badaniach był dobrowolny i anonimowy. Narzędziem badawczym był kwestionariusz ankiety Dlaczego studiujesz? przygotowany według the Academic Motivation Scale. Istotne statystycznie różnice motywacji mężczyzn i kobiet odnotowano w przypadku amotywacji (wyższa u mężczyzn), motywacji zewnętrznej regulowanej oraz motywacji zewnętrznej zidentyfikowanej (wyższe średnie u kobiet).

Wśród społecznych implikacji opracowania można wymienić wpływ objaśniających, porządkujących i systematyzujących ujęć na wzrost świadomości ryzyka i świadomości ubezpieczeniowej zwykle skutkujący większą przezornością ubezpieczeniową. Artykuł metodologiczny.

An aim of the author’s deliberations is to present the place and role of tourist insurance in the system of business insurance. To be sure, in the science of insurance, we do not find a definition of tourist insurance, though most generally we can state that it is insurance serving meeting financial needs (by households and enterprises) which occur with regard to managing the risk specific to the entity undertaking its activity in the area of tourist and recreation in a broad sense. In her article, the author undertook an attempt to arrange and describe that insurance against the background of basic notions and categories as well as in the light of the classical approach to the insurance systematics presented in the insurance literature, with the use of several basic classification criteria as follows: - subjective, - objective, - connected with construction of the insurance programme, - connected with the spatial nature of risk, - connected with the insurance coercion or the freedom to conclude a contract, - legal regulation, - branch. Explanation of the essence of tourist insurance and its functions in the context of risk specificity services practical objectives, arranging the insurance market and supporting the process of risk management, and, within its framework, designing programmes of insurance protection for the oncerned entities. Among the social implications of the study, there can be mentioned impact of the explaining, arranging, and systematising approaches on growth of awareness of the risk and insurance awareness, usually resulting in a greater insurance prudence. Methodological article.

The aim of the article is to present the methodology of study of the tourism function on the example of the Spała village with the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the possibility of using them for didactic purposes in the field of Tourism and Recreation on the example of field exercises ”geography of tourism and hotel industry”. The spatial range of field studies conducted as part of the exercises included the Spała village. During the exercise, two spatial methods for determining tourist function were used: land use map and point valuation. Exercises were carried out using GIS technology and tools, including ArcGIS 10.4 (desktop) and ArcGIS Online. The obtained results indicate that the tourist function of the Spała village is well developed. Areas that perform tourist and recreational functions constitute a significant percentage (over 10%) of plots and area (over 4%) of the studied area. However, the most attractive in terms of tourism are the areas located in Spała, in the center of the village, on the Pilica and Gać rivers and along the main communication and tourist routes. The great advantage of the presented methodology was the use of modern technological solutions and tools of Geographic Information Systems, including work in the cloud and with mobile devices. This allowed for:  – gathering a large amount of spatial data in a short time; – developing students' skills of cooperation and teamwork; – constant supervision of the progress of field work and the correctness of the data obtained, which prompted students to work more regularly and conscientiously; – availability of research results and the possibility of discussing them directly during field exercises.
