Celem badań była analiza i ocena działalności samorządu terytorialnego Żyrardowa w aspekcie wykorzystania XIX w. osady fabrycznej. Badania pilotażowe przeprowadzono w 2011 r. w formie wywiadu skategoryzowanego z 18 respondentami: pracownikami Urzędu Miasta, Radnymi oraz gestorami bazy turystycznej. Otrzymane wyniki pozwoliły przyjąć założenie, że osada fabryczna to unikatowy na skalę Europy obszar poprzemysłowy, którego rozwój pozytywnie wpłynie na aktywizację turystyki weekendowej i postindustrialnej.

The aim of the study was the analysis and assessment of the activities of self-governmental authorities of Żyrardów. In the study the aspect of taking advantage of the 19th-century factory settlement were taken into account. The pilot study was performed in 2011 in a form of questionnaire interview with 18 respondents: the employees of the Town Council of Żyrardów, Town Councilors and managers of the tourist base. Thanks to the results gained it was possible to assume that the factory settlement of Żyrardów is a unique in Europe postindustrial area, the development of which will positively influence the activation of the weekend and postindustrial tourism.
