The market of tourist services is constantly changing due to various impulses coming from international environment as well as from factors of national, regional and local level. The determinants of change in global tourism are primarily associated with the processes of globalization (including the global economic crisis’ years 2008−2010). The aim of this study is to analyze the tourism sector in conditions of global economic crisis. The analysis of demand and supply data – for the period of years 2006−2010 with forecasts for 2011 – made it possible to determine the economic condition of the sector. It seems that tourism was sensitive to the contemporary global economic crisis, while decreases in the indicators analyzed were relatively small and were mainly observed in 2009.
A scope of this study includes a brief description of the concept of risk and presents selected financial instruments aimed at enterprises and consumers safety at tourism business. Moreover, the paper discusses selected insurance products intended to protect consumers of tourist services and companies in tourism industry. It is worth to underline that the insurance products secure sufficiently the risk that occurs on the tourism market. However, the insurance products generally have significantly limited scope of protection. Furthermore, a very limited knowledge of the risks, which are exposed on tourism entrepreneurs and consumers of tourism products and services, leads to slight interest in insurance. Nevertheless, the apprenticeship confirms that the interest in insurance products is increasing at the time of risk. Therefore, a better awareness of tourism industry and its enterprises during the legislation process is required. Moreover, the author emphasizes that the scope of obligatory insurance should be remarkably increased. This would cause greater security at the market as well as it will contribute to the credibility of companies. It also seems that activities designed to improve the state of knowledge in the field of risk and insurance beneficiaries of tourism products and services are needed to be undertaken.

Due to growing competition between cities and increasing globalization , many cities around the world constantly ‘re-package’ themselves and their resources in an attempt to present a tourism destination image (TDI). This is done in order to successfully compete for international status that could assist in attracting tourists. The object of this article is to present a review summarizing the essence of a city’s image and the process of TDI formation. The process of constructing tourism image is not easy and takes a long time. Research of the present city’s image is the first step of the strategy. Cities with negative image need campaigns that improve this image but cities with a positive image need campaigns to reinforce this image. Next, municipal authorities should define a desirable, ideal image and its target. A campaign should have a succinct, consistent message. A city’s uniqueness needs to be identified, positioned and marked in a way that reflects what is unique about it and how it differs from competing cities. Campaign managers have several options for delivering the campaign’s message (advertising, public relations, publicity, sale’s promotion and personal promotion). The last step of the process of constructing an image is monitoring. The whole process of constructing an image should be coordinated and well planned. Many Polish cities are increasingly using marketing instruments. Municipal authorities prepare tourist brochures, organize events and use the Internet, but sometimes they forget that it is the most important to plan image strategy well.

The paper is dedicated to the issue of the relationship between the level of satisfaction of foreign tourists visiting Mexico and the potential for growth in the number of persons visiting from abroad. The publication is based on survey research conducted by the Mexican agency “Secretaria del Turismo” among tourists arriving by air. The survey asked participants to rate the state of the Mexican tourist infrastructure, airport facilities, and attitudes of locals towards foreign tourists. The survey study showed a general increase in the satisfaction level of people who had visited Mexico in 2007 relative to that of people who had visited in 2002. Security and Mexican hospitality were highly rated by survey participants. Forecasts call for growth in tourist traffic and predict increasing revenues for the tourist industry. This may be associated with the growing level of satisfaction experienced by visitors to Mexico.
Trwałymi elementami kultury greckiej były podróże, ciekawość i chęć poznawania świata.
Głównym celem zaleceń władzy ludowej była integracja wiejskiej młodzieży, przekazywanie haseł propagandowych i dalsza ingerencja w sprawy „odpowiedniego” wychowania młodszej części społeczeństwa wiejskiego.

California is a very popular destination for overseas and in-bound leisure tourists from other American states. California offers much more than the sun and golden beaches. Due to mild Mediterranean climate, it is a place to practise water sports, golf, hiking, cycling and also mountain climbing. Its theme parks and varied types of entertainment make it an ideal destination for families. Big Californian cities are university centres with many educational institutions, so more intellectually-oriented visitors will find here inspiration. The past and old traditions are nor forgotten, so both adventure seekers and historians may spend fascinating time not only limited to museums, theatres or cinemas. A substantial group of tourists are participants in international conventions. Everybody is pleased by international cuisine and Californian wine. The Golden State offers landscapes ranging from desserts to hight mountainous ridges and populated cosmopolitancities. Cities and national parks are often the main goal of the visit. The trip organisation is facilitated by the multitude of information, most popular of which is webside access to practical tips. Highways, camp-sites, restaurants, shopping malls additionally encourage individual tourism. Given the fact that recently the overall income from visitors has been steadily growing, it has had a great impact on the character and economy of California. Although there are slight differences between recent years due to economic fluctuations in the world, the number of international and domestic tourists is high and this tendency will probably be maintained.

The market of electronic devices dedicated for sport, tourism and recreation is very broad. Unfortunately, the specialist equipment is relatively expensive. Smartphones seem to be the solution for this cost problem. They offer similar possibilities to computers, however their price is much lower. Thus they are more available to the average consumer. What is more, thanks to small dimensions, they can be also used outside. To begin an outdoor game, it is only needed to have a right application. An example of such a program is the Geocaching game that consists in finding a „treasure” (cache) based on GPS coordinates, determined by another player. He simply chooses the destination on his smartphone. The searched object, although being not valuable, can be often times well hidden. Additionally, the information regarding sightseeing and history of monuments found nearby the destination point is displayed on the smartphone during the travel. The aim of this article was to check the respondents’ level of knowledge regarding the use of smartphones in geolocation games. Furthermore, the purpose was to determine what forms of outdoor physical activity are preferred among the students living in the city and in the countryside. Tourism, recreation and sport are forms of activity, in which GPS modules, together with the necessary software find successfully use.
Among the most important characteristics of contemporary Europe we can mention its cultural diversity and the mobility of its inhabitants. One of the forms of this mobility is the tourism closely connected with the environment in which humans live. Among various methods of heritage protection (including conservation, legal and organisational methods), tourism appears in its various aspects, such as the protection of the cultural environment for tourism or the protection of the cultural environment against the negative consequences of tourism. There is also the possibility of protection of cultural heritage through tourism. Apart from the adaptation of historic objects for the needs of tourist traffic, cultural routes can also contribute to the protection and maintenance of heritage. These opportunities are illustrated by the Programme of European Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, which connects places with a similar historical, architectural or artistic shape. Its aim is to make Europeans aware of their cultural identity, to maintain and protect the European cultural heritage as a source of the social, economic and cultural development of the environment in which they live, and to grant a special place to cultural tourism. An example of this is the European Pilgrimage Route leading to Santiago de Compostela in Spain and to restore routes leading to it in the entire Europe. The inscription of Camino de Santiago on the UNESCO List, the revival of the cult of St. James and the popularity of the route resulted in the intensification of protection activities relating to the heritage located along various European routes, also in Poland.
