Higher education is one of the most important areas in the development of each country, both in terms of human capital development and in economic terms (e.g. GDP growth). The article focuses on the problems faced by managers of private universities. The theoretical part presents the nature of economic activity and methods of assessing the level of profitability in the activities of economic entities. The empirical part of the work focuses on the analyses conducted by the Department of Financial Controlling of a private university in the area of the level of its profitability. The results of analyses clearly show that a key source of funding of the studied institution is the revenue from tuition fees, brought by part-time students in particular, which makes it possible to fund and implement the mission and vision of the University, cover the deficit activity of full time programs of study and develop financial surplus which is the source of investment and development of the institution.

Szkolnictwo wyższe jest jednym z najważniejszych obszarów w rozwoju każdego kraju, zarówno w ujęciu rozwoju kapitału ludzkiego, jak i w kategoriach ekonomicznych (np. wzrost PKB). Autorzy w artykule koncentrują się na problemach, jakie stają przed zarządzającymi niepublicznymi uczelniami wyższymi. W części teoretycznej została zaprezentowana istota prowadzenia działalności gospodarczej oraz metody oceny poziomu rentowności w działalności podmiotów gospodarczych. Część empiryczna obejmuje analizy przeprowadzone przez Dział Controllingu Finansowego niepublicznej uczelni wyższej w zakresie poziomu jej rentowności. Wyniki analiz w sposób czytelny pokazują, że kluczowym źródłem finansowania badanej instytucji są przychody z czesnego, w szczególności wnoszonego przez studentów niestacjonarnych, dzięki którym możliwe jest finansowanie i realizowanie misji i wizji uczelni, pokrywanie deficytowych studiów w formie stacjonarnej, a także wypracowanie nadwyżki finansowej, dzięki której instytucja ma środki na rozwój i inwestycje.

Firm positive image can help organisation survive in a time of fierce competition. In case of higher school, majority of organisation is formed by its internal client, undergraduates. The article presents the results of a research examining the influence of an internal client on creating the image of one of a non-public higher schools based in Lower Silesia. The school mainly operates in its direct local environment, although certain amount of students commutes from equal size or smaller locations situated from 20 to 50 km away, even from a voivode rank Wrocław.

W dobie silnej konkurencji pozytywny i mocno ugruntowany wizerunek organizacji może mieć wpływ na jej przetrwanie. W przypadku uczelni znaczną część organizacji stanowią jej klienci wewnętrzni, czyli studenci. Niniejsze opracowanie przedstawia wyniki badania wpływu klienta wewnętrznego na kreowanie wizerunku jednej z uczelni niepublicznej na Dolnym Śląsku. Uczelnia ta działa głównie w otoczeniu lokalnym, choć pewna grupa słuchaczy przyjeżdża z równorzędnych bądź mniejszych miejscowości oddalonych o 20–50 km, a nawet z wojewódzkiego Wrocławia.

This article discusses the legal basis and the process of the liquidation of non – public higher education institution when his founder decides to apply for a permission to go into liquidation, granted by the Minister of Science and Higher Education. Fundamental obligations of the liquidator have been presented together with conditions and consequences of deletion from the registry of non-public higher education institutions. Examples of problems have been also indicated, both legal and practical that can be faced on during the process of liquidation of non-public higher education institution.

This article discusses the legal basis and the process of the establishment of non – public higher education institution when the founder decides to apply for a permission to establish non-public higher education institution, granted by the Minister of Science and Higher Education. Fundamental obligations of the founder have been presented together with conditions and consequences of enrollment in the registry of non-public higher education institutions. A substantive assessment of the abovementioned process was made in order to answer, if any legal and practical problems can be faced on during the process of establishing non-public higher education institution.

This article presents different forms of consolidation of non-public higher education institutions, according to the provisions of law on higher education, i.e.: fusion of non-public higher education institutions, transfer of the permission to establish non-public higher education institution and association of non-public higher education. The legal basis and the process of those three forms have been presented together with conditions and consequences. Examples of problems have been also indicated, both legal and practical that can be faced on.
