The article aims to explore the changing perceptions of the Agreement of Kėdainiai within the Lithuanian historiography. The agreement, signed on 20 October 1655 between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Swedish Empire, severed Lithuania’s union with the Kingdom of Poland. The article also discusses the first examples of Lithuanian historiographers shining a more favorable light on the actions taken by the proposers of the agreement, long before historiography became an established discipline in the Lithuanian language.

W artykule podjęto próbę prześledzenia, jak kształtowały się i zmieniały w litewskiej historiografii oceny układu kiejdańskiego, zawartego 20 października 1655 r. między Wielkim Księstwem Litewskim i Szwecją, zrywającego dotychczasowe więzi unijne, łączące Litwę z Koroną Polską. W tekście zwrócono też uwagę na pierwsze oznaki kształtowania się łagodniejszych ocen działalności inicjatorów zawarcia tego układu ze strony Litwy, które można zaobserwować już na długo przed powstaniem historiografii tworzonej w języku litewskim.
