Die postmoderne demokratische Gesellschaft zeichnet sich durch einen Pluralismus der Werte und normativer Haltungen aus. Angesichts der axiologischen Mannigfaltigkeit der liberalen Gesellschaft sind zahlreiche Konfliktsituationen unvermeidlich, die letztlich den Charakter einer Auseinandersetzung um die Werte annehmen. Wo soll man nach jener „verbindlichen Kraft“ suchen, die für die normative Stabilität der sozialen Gemeinschaft bürgt? Die Antwort auf diese Frage erfordert die Bewusstmachung und die erneute Erläuterung des Charakters der moralischen Werte. Der Autor forscht nach einer Definition der Werte im Zusammenhang mit der Handlungstheorie (der Ziele, der Beweggründe, der Mittel und des Vorrangs). Ein so definierter Wert bildet den Ausgangspunkt für die Suche nach dem Grundsatz, der die Wertekonflikte regelt, und in weiterer Perspektive für die Werttheorie als „Wissenschaft von Konflikten“. Die Formulierung einer „philosophischen Grammatik der Werte“ ist eine Bedingung für die pädagogische Ausrichtung auf die Werte und eine Garantie des axiologischen Pluralismus, der die Grundlage der liberalen Demokratie bildet.

The postmodern society is typified by the plurality of values and normative attitudes. With this axiological rainbow of the liberal society, conflicts are inevitable; these ultimately appear in debates over values. Where is the “binding force”, a guarantee of a normative stability of society, to be found? To answer this question, the essence of moral values must be understood and reiterated. The author seeks a definition of values in relation to action theory (aims, motivations, means and preferences). Thus defined, value becomes the starting point in the quest for a principle regulating conflicts of values, as well as a cornerstone for axiology understood as “the science of conflicts”. Formulating “the philosophical grammar of values” is a precondition for a pedagogic focus on values and a guarantee of axiological pluralism, which is the basis of liberal democracy.

Ponowoczesne społeczeństwo demokratyczne charakteryzuje pluralizm wartości i postaw normatywnych. W obliczu tej aksjologicznej różnobarwności społeczeństwa liberalnego nieuniknione są liczne sytuacje konfliktowe, przybierające ostatecznie charakter sporu o wartości. Gdzie poszukiwać owej „mocy zobowiązującej“, która stanowi gwarancję normatywnej stabilności wspólnoty społecznej? Odpowiedź na to pytanie wymaga zrozumienia i ponownego wyeksplikowania istoty wartości moralnych. Autor poszukuje definicj wartości w powiązaniu z teorią działania (celów, motywacji, środków i preferencji). Tak zdefiniowana wartość stanowi punkt wyjścia dla poszukiwania zasady regulującej konflikty wartości, a w dalszej perspektywie dla aksjologii rozumianej jako „nauka o konfliktach”. Sformułowanie „filozoficznej gramatyki wartości” jest warunkiem pedagogicznego ukierunkowania na wartości oraz gwarantem aksjologicznego pluralizmu, będącego podstawą liberalnej demokracji.
