Wymiar religijny okazuje się bardzo istotny w kształtowaniu i rozumieniu wspólnoty. Świętem, w którym najbardziej koncentruje się historia i wiara Izraela, jest uroczyście obchodzona przez Żydów Pascha. Jej fenomen polega nie tylko na wspomnieniu dawnych wydarzeń, ale przede wszystkim na uświadomieniu uczestnikom celebracji aktualności wyzwoleńczego działania Boga. Przez ten gest tworzy On i powołuje naród realizujący wyjątkową w dziejach jedność, przez tożsamość i świadomość rodzące się z wiary w Jednego Boga. W tym samym sensie naród ten jest wspólnotą dzięki swojemu odniesieniu do Boga w zawartym z Nim przymierzu, co rozumiane jest jako zadanie doprowadzenia do tej wspólnoty wszystkich innych narodów.

The religious dimension is very important in the community forming and its understanding. The feast – Pasha, which the Israel history and faith is based on, is solemnly celebrated by Jewish. It is not only the recollection of former events but most of all it is to make all aware of the topicality of God’s saving act. Through this act God makes and calls the nation which fulfils the exceptional unity that comes from the identity and awareness of the faith in God, the only true One. In this regard, the nation is the community in the covenant with God so it is understood to bring all nations to this community.
