The aim of this paper is to analyze children’s artistic output in the context of creation of an artistic sign. Children’s artistic activity is one of their first and basic forms of non-verbal communication with their environment. The need of drawing is child’s natural need of expression, defined by their psychophysical development. My current research interests are focused on children’s artistic activity as a way of creating an artistic sign and its meaning. This issue stems from observation and analysis of creation of drawn images of an object connected with the impact of a verbal sign (Szuścik 2006). This approach offers a new prospect for the research of children’s drawing activity in terms of the development of drawing signs and their meanings and the processes of communication.

Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na analizę twórczości plastycznej dziecka w kontekście kształtowania się znaku plastycznego. Twórczość plastyczna dziecka jest jedną z jego pierwszych i podstawowych form komunikowania się niewerbalnego z otoczeniem. Potrzeba rysowania jest naturalną potrzebą ekspresji dziecka określoną jego rozwojem psychofizycznym. Moje aktualne zainteresowania badawcze skupiają się wokół twórczości rysunkowej dziecka w kontekście tworzenia przez nie znaku plastycznego i jego znaczenia. Zagadnienie to jest wynikiem obserwacji i analizy struktury dziecięcego rysunku pod kątem kształtowania się rysunkowego obrazu przedmiotu powiązanego z oddziaływaniem znaku werbalnego. Takie podejście badawcze stwarza nową perspektywę badań twórczości rysunkowej dziecka w aspekcie rozwoju znaków rysunkowych i ich znaczeń oraz procesów komunikowania się.
