Świat Internetu niesie bardzo wiele zagrożeń, szczególnie dla najmłodszych jego użytkowników – dzieci, które są podatne na wszelkie jego treści. Odpowiedzialność za bezpieczeństwo dzieci w Internecie spoczywa na rodzicach i nauczycielach. Aby móc przeciwstawić się zagrożeniom, potrzeba właściwej świadomości tychże osób. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono niektóre wyniki badań dotyczących realnych zagrożeń ze strony Internetu, z którymi spotykają się dzieci.

World of the Internet carries a lot of risks, especially for its youngest users – children who are prone to its entire content. Responsibility for the safety of children on the internet lies with their parents and teachers. Firstly, to be able to counter the threats these people must be aware of them. This article presents some of the results of studies concerning real threats, which children are facing while using the Internet.

Obok tradycyjnych mediów, jak prasa i radio, pojawiły się nowe, bardziej atrakcyjne dla młodego pokolenia. Są to komputer i Internet, które bez wątpienia zdominowały pozostałe środki masowego przekazu. Są na tyle interesujące dla odbiorców, że wielu zaczyna żyć wirtualnie, a traci kontakt z rzeczywistością. Celem artykułu jest sprawdzenie, w jaki sposób media oddziałują na młodych odbiorców. Ukazano pozytywny i negatywny aspekt mediów. Sprawdzono, jak często dzieci i młodzież korzystają z komunikatorów internetowych i czy jest to dobry sposób komunikowania się z innymi, a także czy postrzegają media i nowe technologie jako zagrożenie dla tradycyjnych książek i czytelnictwa. Wyniki badań ukazują, iż coraz młodsi użytkownicy korzystają z mediów, a ponad połowa ankietowanych poświęca na czytanie mniej niż godzinę dziennie.

Apart from the traditional media such as the press and radio, new and more attractive to young generation ones appeared. These are computer and the Internet, which, without a doubt, dominated other mass media. They are so interesting to viewers that many of them start to live in a virtual world and lose touch with reality. The aim of this article is to check how the media affect young people. The positive as well as negative aspects were demonstrated. It was checked how often children and young people used internet communicators and whether it was a good method of communicating with others as well as whether children and young people perceive the media and new technologies as a threat to traditional books and reading. The results of this study show that younger and younger people use the media and more than half of the surveyed people spend less than an hour a day on reading.
