This article inquires into the connection between individualisation and environmental issues. Following an introduction to the topic in the opening of the article in chapters II and III the author provides a definition of some basic concepts and asks whether and how the relationship between individualisation and environmental issues is reflected in sociological literature. In chapter IV the author formulates a general framework that in chapter V gives insight into the inconsistent conception of individualisation in environmental ideologies. The article closes with chapter VI, in which, with the aid of a theoretical sociological framework, the author formulates some themes for studying the environmental aspects of the individualised lifestyle.

Due to special historical circumstances, advancements in science and technology have affected various aspects of Cypriot people’s life relatively late. However, since the modern way of life requires less and less compulsory physical activity, this has manifested itself recently in the spreading of a sedentary lifestyle in Cyprus also. The purpose of this paper is to present the changes in the frequency, intensity and type of physical activity throughout three Cypriot generations. It is based on a part of research carried out by survey method of the population of that consisted of secondary school students, their parents, and their grandparents. The sample was selected by stratified, random, and snowball selection (N = 1067). With the youngest generation, the data were collected in groups at their school by questionnaire; the members of other two groups answered the questionnaires individually. In order to analyze the data, the Wilcoxon two related sample test and chi-square analyses were performed. The results revealed that the older generations’ everyday life encompassed more active elements in their childhood and youth than the youngsters’ life comprises nowadays. Both intragenerational and intergenerational changes in daily living and health-related physical activity occurred, and the advancements in science and technology have had a contradictory impact on these processes. In the conclusions, the necessity of taking measures to stop the decline of physical activity is emphasized.

The study deals with narrative representations of the past of the Slovak city of Nová Dubnica that was built on a green-field land in the 1950s as an “exemplary socialist city” to accommodate workers of the engineering plant in Dubnica nad Váhom. While interpreting research data within the theoretical framework of collective memory, the author addresses memories of the first and long-term residents (60 years old and older) who look back on their life in the city in the 1950s−1980s. Based on ethnographic research, it was (1) industrial plant and work, (2) city construction, and (3) family and social life that were identified as major areas of narrative representations. These areas feature similar contents of individual interpretations of the past, and their intersection is formed by themes that can be qualified as the above-mentioned group’s collective memory of the life in Nová Dubnica in the past. Collective memory, as a socially conditioned category, is formed in Nová Dubnica, among other things, by important factors − regular events (celebrations of the foundation of the city, lantern parade) and mutual meetings of seniors. The study is to present Nová Dubnica as a “place of memory”, which shapes the inhabitants’ ideas about the past and which is also formed by local memories of the years of the socialist regime.

The article, based on unpublished archival material, deals with an important cultural phenomenon, i.e. the actual meeting of first and second wave Russian émigré writers which finally happened in the States after the Second World War. Writing from New York to her former Paris friend Boris Zaitsev and his wife, Nina Berberova juxtaposes the writers of the two waves using a broader frame of two totally different types of Russian culture (Russian vs Soviet) that eventually found themselves in emigration, even though at different time(s) and under different circumstances.

In many scientific discussions about youth attitudes in political or public sphere we don’t notice results of change of youth’s way of life. However, we have to spot that the new model of everyday life eliminates politics and different political problems, because they don’t present themselves as attractive issues. Politics is placed very low in value hierarchy of young people. They are passive on a political arena during their free time. Politics is not so frequent a topic of conversations with family or friends. In the article the author presents data to prove his point that appreciable part of young Europeans (especially young Poles) prefers „depoliticized” way of life.

W naukowej refleksji nad postawami młodych ludzi w sferze politycznej czy publicznej rzadko zwraca się uwagę na konsekwencje zmiany młodzieżowego stylu życia. Tymczasem nowy model postępowania w życiu codziennym w gruncie rzeczy pomija politykę i wszystko co polityczne, jako obiekty mało atrakcyjne. W hierarchiach wartości młodzi ludzie przyznają polityce marginalne miejsce. Nie stanowi ona również wypełnienia czasu wolnego, który młode pokolenie woli poświęcić rozrywce. Rzadko bywa ona przedmiotem konwersacji z najbliższym otoczeniem – rodziną czy przyjaciółmi. Na podstawie zaprezentowanych danych autor stara się uargumentować tezę, że znaczna część młodego pokolenia mieszkańców Unii Europejskiej (ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem młodych Polaków) preferuje „zdepolityzowany” styl życia.

The paper discusses the teaching of the Apostolic Fathers on God's punishment for sins. The Fathers base their reflections mainly on the Holy Scripture. Thus, they refer to the image of the way of life as the way of slavation, to which they devote most of their attention, and to the image of the way of death, which they try to warn the adresees of their writings against. The way of death is the way of negation of God's commandments, disregard of God's will and a stubborn persistence in sins. The consequence of such an attitude is eternal punishment, which the Fathers describe as death and deprivation of participation in the Kingdom of God. The man who denies God condemns himself to eternal punishment. He will burn in unquenchable fire. The teaching of the Apostolic Fathers is of a strictly pastoral character.

W przedstawionym artykule zostało omówione nauczanie Ojców Apostolskich na temat Bożej kary za grzechy. W swojej refleksji opierają się przede wszystkim na Piśmie Świętym. Sięgają więc do obrazu drogi życia, której opisowi, jako drogi do zbawienia, poświęcają znacznie więcej uwagi, i drogi śmierci, przed którą starają się przestrzec adresatów swoich pism. Droga śmierci to droga negacji Bożych przykazań, lekceważenia woli Bożej i upartego trwania w grzechach. Konsekwencją takiej postawy jest kara wieczna, którą Ojcowie opisują jako śmierć i pozbawienie udziału w Królestwie Bożym. Człowiek, który wyparł się Boga, sam skazuje siebie na karę wieczną. Będzie on płonął w nieugaszonym ogniu. Nauczanie Ojców Apostolskich ma charakter ściśle pastoralny.

The author considers the problem of professional burnout as a term that researchers of professional sphere of human activity indicate a situation where staff of communication, auxiliary occupations where personal responsibility exceed than external control, after several months or years of diligent realization of their duties „burn out”, showing signs nervousness, intensity, apathy, etc.

Autorka rozważa problem wypalenia zawodowego nauczycieli, który funkcjonuje w życiu zawodowym człowieka i oznacza sytuację, w której pracownik traci zdolność komunikacji pomiędzy osobistą odpowiedzialnością a kontrolą zewnętrzną podejmowanych działań. Po kilku miesiącach lub latach sumiennej realizacji swoich obowiązków następuje wypalenie zawodowe, którego oznaki to: zdenerwowanie, apatia itp.
