The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the pneumatological credibility of the Church, a goal achieved via three lines of analysis. First, the event of Pentecost is presented as an ecclesio-genetic gift of the Holy Spirit. Then the pneumatological iconicity of the Church is shown. In the third point, the essential signs constituting the pneumatological credibility of Ecclesia are explained. The holistic presentation of the presence and action of the Holy Spirit in the Church – both in its genesis and in its permanent realisation in history – is the basis for demonstrating its absolute uniqueness, which is possible with the simultaneous participation of ratio and fides. The pneumatological credibility of the Church is closely linked to other kinds of arguments found within the framework of fundamental theology, e.g. scriptural, resurrectionist, agapetological, martyrological, praxeological, sperantist, veritative, or the argument from holiness. In all these arguments, the pneumatological aspect must be made even clearer.

Niniejsze opracowanie ukazuje pneumatologiczną wiarygodność Kościoła. Cel ten został zrealizowany w trzech punktach. Najpierw zaprezentowano wydarzenie Pięćdziesiątnicy jako eklezjogenetyczny dar Ducha Świętego. Następnie ukazano pneumatologiczną ikoniczność Kościoła. W trzecim punkcie wyeksplikowano znaki pneumatologicznej wiarygodności Eklezji. W argumentach tych trzeba jeszcze mocniej uwyraźniać aspekt pneumatologiczny.

The article analyzes the veritative credibility of the catholic Church according to H. U. von Balthasar. We are trying to answer the question: Does the Church transmit the truth revealed in Jesus Christ in an honest and intact way? Despite changeable, philosophical and cultural directions the doctrine and moral rules of the Church remain constant and in accordance with ecclesiastical tradition. Christianity creates its credibility trough consequent interpretation and proclamation of the Divine Word. The Church interprets mysteries revealed by God in an infallible way, cares about the Biblical canon, meditates on Divine books, explores them and lives according to them. Existence of the ecclesiastical office eliminates attempts of subjective and incorrect understanding of the revelation. The Church fulfils its veritative mission with help of theology, which reads the Divine revelation in new contexts. Church's veritative credibility is created also by the liturgy which makes saving work present and shows the God's Revelation as something living and dynamic. Compatibility between confessed faith and life is the greatest argument for authenticity and credibility of the Church. The revealed truth shows its beauty and power in acts of charity and love.

The subject of this presentation is to present the apologetic face of the First Bishop of Rzeszów, Kazimierz Górny, on the basis of selected pastoral letters, conferences and sermons. The above presentation highlights the apologetic face of Bishop Kazimierz Górny, who, being a defender of the human person, the Church, the principles of Catholic faith and morality, and patriotic values, is at the same time a man of dialogue and consensus. Steadfast in the principled matters of God, he remains always open and cordial towards every human being. He is especially sensitive to people who are poor, sick, lost or who are looking for God. The apologetic face of Bishop Kazimierz shown does not exhaust the beauty of his person and the richness of his personality. It is worth emphasizing that we can see His apologetic face not only in His teaching - as presented above - but also in the attitude to life, i.e. the testimony of life, and especially in the sensitivity of the heart, Christian joy and a cordial smile, which is the simplest way to the heart of every human being.

This article based on Avery Cardinal Dulles S.J. ecclesiological thought shows temporal dimension of catholicity of the Church. It is one of the lines of argumentation for the structural credibility of the Church, which demonstrates that the Church as a structure and in its structure preserves Divine Revelation and communicates it in time and space to everyone. Article shows catholicity of the Church in time, that means identity and continuity of the Church from creation to the end of time (fullness of Kingdom of God). According to Dulles the Church has different stages. In a visible form it finally emerged in Jesus’ live, death and resurrection and sending of Holly Spirit. Thanks to its sacramental structure Church is dynamical and in time it changes forms of its life to be a sign of salvation for all. Therefore the Church is one and simultaneously diverse, it has to fit to all times to realize mission to preach Jesus Christ. To the structure of the Church in this time dimension pertain elements pointing to the unity in diversity of the Church: Tradition (as a not only static but also dynamic communication of Divine Revelation), reform (as a verification of the Church’s mission and the elimination of distortions of its function), doctrine of the Church (constantly interpreted preserves contents of Divine Revelation in a changing historical and cultural contexts), authority in the Church (hierarchical, theological and charismatic; they preserve purity of the Church’s teaching and fidelity of Divine Revelation). These elements participate in the Church’s transmission of Divine Revelation and salvation in time, and are premises of an structural argument of credibility of the Church.

The article presents the Church’s origins from Christ as the basis of her uniqueness. Christ wanted to found the Church and gave her a particular structure and permanent actualization of the Ecclesia in history. Thus, the Ecclesia totally belongs to Christ, both in her origin and in her permanent actualization and in carrying out of the salvific mission. The origins from Christ are also an essential element of the Church’s credibility.

There are two purposes of this article: the first one - to clarify the meaning of the term ‘credibility of the Church in contemporary Poland’ from a theological perspective, and the second one - to describe the basic signs of such credibility and the difficulties they are facing. The article consists of three parts and a conclusion. The first part deals with the theological understanding of the Church’s credibility in contemporary Poland in the light of new researches and inspirations offered by Joseph Ratzinger’s ecclesiology and by the book Oblicza Kościoła katolickiego w Polsce. 1050. rocznicaChrztu [Features of the Catholic Church in Poland. The 1050th Anniversary of the Christening] (ed. by J. Mastej, K. Kaucha, P. Borto, Lublin 2016). The second part is focused on the signs of the Church’s credibility in Poland (sign of Peter, of the Apostolic Collegium, of unity, of holiness, of universality, of apostolicity, agapetological, praxeological, martyriological, and culture-creative), which started to be described about 25 years ago by Rev. Marian Rusecki, who was co-founder and the most excellent representative of the Lublin School of Fundamental Theology. The third part presents some new signs of the Church’s credibility in Poland according to the author of the article (charitable, staurological, resurrectional, paschal, anthropological-vocational, of freedom, of the priority of the Spirit and spiritual life, of peace and reconciliation, of protest, of the faith’s pure- ness). In the conclusion the author underlines the values of the semeiological method in describing and testing the credibility of the Church in contemporary Poland.

Scientific research in the field of ecclesiology have been conducted at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) from the beginning of its existence, among others, in the Department of Fundamental Theology headed from 1918 by Rev. Piotr Kremer. The research intensified after the creation of the second Department of Fundamental Theology – Ecclesiology (on 23 June 1958), which in the years 1964-91 was headed by Rev. Stanisław Nagy (Cardinal from 2003), along with the development of the Lublin School of Fundamental Theology, to which Rev. Marian Rusecki was the most prominent contributor. The aim of this article is to present the achievements of the Lublin centre (authors, works, research problems, its development) in the field of ecclesiology. The article will not repeat the content of other articles included in this volume1 and it will be composed of the following sections: (1) the ecclesiological contents before the establishment of the Lublin School of Fundamental Theology, (2) the ecclesiological contents in the works of Rev. Edward Kopeć, (3) the ecclesiological achievements of Rev. Stanisław Nagy and his students, (4) the ecclesiological achievements of Rev. Marian Rusecki and his students, and (5) conclusion.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie dorobku (autorów, dzieł, zagadnień, przemian) lubelskiego ośrodka teologii fundamentalnej w zakresie eklezjologii. Artykuł składa się z następujących punktów: treści eklezjologiczne przed zainicjowaniem lubelskiej szkoły teologii fundamentalnej (1), treści eklezjologiczne w twórczości ks. Edwarda Kopcia (2), eklezjologiczny dorobek ks. P. Kremer), potem – u ks. E. Kopcia i ks. S. Nagyego – tradycyjna, utrzymana jeszcze w duchu apologetyki intelektualistycznej. W późniejszym okresie ks. Nagy przekształcał ją w eklezjologię posoborową o coraz wyraźniejszym profilu teologicznym i ekumenicznym, co czynił też ks. R. Łukaszyk. Największy wkład wniósł ks. M. Rusecki, który synchronizował eklezjologię z chrystologią (u ks. Kopcia i ks. Nagyego były one niezależne) i poszerzył argumentację na rzecz wiarygodności Kościoła. Jego dorobek jest rozwijany przez jego uczniów.
