Presented paper is a report of a finished research that deals with the problem of interference in the multilingual acquisition of grammatical competence. The aim of the quantitative study was to investigate the influence of English as the first foreign language on the word order of German as a second foreign language in the group of Polish secondary school students with basic knowledge of German language.
