Niniejszy artykuł porusza problem wpływu telewizji na powstawanie deficytów w sferze rozwoju języka i mowy u dzieci. Zagadnienie to rozpatrywane jest w związku z różnymi aspektami rozwoju fizycznego i intelektualnego dziecka. Poruszone zostają kwestie oddziaływania telewizji na: sprawności motoryczne i percepcyjno-motoryczne dzieci, ich motywację do mówienia i nawiązywania interakcji z otoczeniem, na sprawność mięśni artykulacyjnych, aktywność poznawczą, zasób słownictwa, kompetencje gramatyczne oraz sprawność fonologiczną. Oglądanie telewizji traktuje się w artykule jako jedno z wielu działań zachodzących w środowisku wychowawczym dziecka, które ma wpływ na rozwój jego mowy i języka. W oparciu o wyniki przytoczonych badań zostaje sformułowany postulat zminimalizowania czasu jaki dziecko spędza przed telewizorem oraz dostosowania go do wieku młodego widza.

This article discusses the impact of television on the creation of developmental speech and language deficits in children. This issue is examined in relation to various aspects of the physical and intellectual development of a child. The article discusses issues concerning the impact of television on children’s motor skills and perceptual-motor skills, children’s motivation to speak and interact with the environment, the efficiency of their speech muscles, their cognitive activity, range of vocabulary, grammatical competence and phonological skills. According to this article watching television is one of many activities that take place in the child’s educational environmental and which influence the child’s speech and language development. In view of the results of the research discussed in this article, the following postulates are formulated: the time children spend watching television should be reduced and it should be adapted to the age of the young viewer.
