Artykuł omawia gatunek wspomnienia pośmiertnego na materiale tekstów z XIX wieku. Autor krytycznie przedstawia stan badań, wykazując, że studia z lingwistyki kulturowej poświęcone nekrologom niedostatecznie uwzględniają ewolucję wypowiedzi ogłaszanych w prasie po śmierci danej osoby. W pierwszej połowie XIX wieku pojęcia nekrolog i wspomnienie pośmiertne były rozumiane synonimicznie. Na konwencję wspomnień pośmiertnych miały wpływ pochwały, a od drugiej połowy wieku dodatkowo ta konwencja nabierała cech gatunku biografii akademickiej, która prezentowała życie konkretnej osoby jako wypełnianie modelu pacy i służby publicznej. Wspomnienia miewały objętość broszury lub książki i stawały się portretami literackimi. Pierwotne osobiste formy pamięci o zmarłym były zastępowane studiowaniem źródeł i dokumentów. Wspomnienia prywatne zamieniały się w biografie zawodowe osób publicznych.

The article discusses the genre of posthumous memories on the basis of texts from the 19th century. The author critically presents the state of research, showing that studies within cultural linguistics devoted to obituaries do not sufficiently account for the evolution of statements published in the press after the death of a given person. In the first half of the 19th century, the concepts of obituary and posthumous memories were considered to be synonymous. The convention of posthumous memories was influenced by praise, and starting from the second half of that century, this convention additionally took on the characteristics of a genre of academic biography, which presented the life of a particular person as a fulfilment of the model of public and work service. Memories used to have the volume of a booklet or book and were literary portraits. The originally personal forms of remembrance about the deceased were replaced by the study of sources and documents. Private memories turned into professional biographies of public figures.

Obwohl, oder vielleicht gerade dadurch, dass der Nachruf im Interessengebiet mehrerer Forschungsdisziplinen steht, gilt er als eine immer noch unzureichend untersuchte Kategorie. Auch aus der textsortentypologischen Sicht herrscht über den Status des ‚Nachrufs‘ sowie dessen funktionale und thematische Merkmale und definitorische Parameter in der germanistischen Forschung keine Übereinstimmung. Hinzu kommen die immer wieder in der Tages- und Online-Presse erscheinenden Texte, die mit dem Vermerk ‚kritischer Nachruf‘ im Titelkomplex versehen werden. Sollte dies somit bedeuten, dass sich neben dem Nachruf eine neue Größe etabliert hat? Der Beitrag setzt sich zum Ziel, den Nachruf als Analyseobjekt aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven zu beleuchten und anhand der Analyse von ausgewählten Pressetexten zu ermitteln, ob es sich bei kritischen Nachrufen womöglich um eine neue Textsortenvariante handelt.

Despite, or perhaps because of the fact that the obituary is in the area of interest of several research disciplines, it is regarded as a still inadequately examined category. From the point of view of linguistic genology concerning the German studies of this text type, scholars are not unanimous on the status of the obituary, its functional and thematic features and definitional parameters. Furthermore, both in printed and electronic press one can increasingly find texts provided with an annotation ‘critical obituary’ in the title. Does it mean that beside the obituary there has been established a new category? The author of this article aims to describe the concept of the obituary, discuss it from different perspectives, and on the basis of selected press releases, examine whether it is possible to talk about differentiating a new variant of text type.

Mimo, a może właśnie z tego powodu, że wspomnienie pośmiertne znajduje się w obszarze zainteresowań wielu dyscyplin badawczych, uchodzi ono za wielkość, która nadal niewystarczająco została zbadana. Z punktu widzenia genologii lingwistycznej w badaniach germanistycznych dotyczących rodzajów tekstów badacze nie są zgodni co do kwestii statusu, wyróżników funkcjonalnych i tematycznych wspomnienia pośmiertnego ani też odnośnie wyznaczników definicyjnych tego gatunku. Ponadto w prasie drukowanej i elektronicznej pojawiają się coraz częściej teksty opatrzone w tytule wzmianką ‘krytyczne wspomnienie pośmiertne’. Czy należy więc z tego wnioskować, że obok wspomnienia pośmiertnego wykształciła się nowa wielkość? Artykuł przybliża pojęcie wspomnienia pośmiertnego oraz ukazuje je z różnych perspektyw, a na podstawie analizy wybranych tekstów prasowych stawia także pytanie, czy w przypadku krytycznego wspomnienia pośmiertnego można mówić o nowym wariancie gatunkowym.
