Sytuacja społeczno-ekonomiczna studentów w kontekście wyboru kierunku studiów

Wstęp. Wybór kierunku studiów przez kandydata można analizować w odniesieniu do jego statusu ekonomicznego. Celem artykułu było zbadanie wpływu sytuacji społeczno-ekonomicznej studenta na wybór kierunku studiów. Materiał i metody. Ankietą objęto 514 studentów pierwszego roku PSW im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej. Wyniki. W wyniku analiz stwierdzono, iż najkorzystniejszą sytuację materialną posiadali studenci kierunku ratownictwo medyczne, najmniej korzystną zaś na filologii, specjalność filologia rosyjska. U blisko 70,0% badanych oboje rodzice pracują i osiągają stałe dochody. Średni poziom dochodu netto na jedną osobę wyniósł 810,00 zł. Gospodarstwo domowe studenta liczyło średnio 3,9 osoby. Wnioski. Student PSW posiada dochody na 1 osobę w gospodarstwie domowym na poziomie do 1000 zł (blisko o 30% niższe niż przeciętny miesięczny dochód rozporządzalny na osobę w 2015 r. – GUS, 2016 w Polsce), z 3-4 osobami w gospodarstwie domowym, w którym oboje rodziców są aktywni zawodowo, głównie jako zatrudnieni u kogoś.

Introduction. The moment students choose their degree course allows for analysing their economic situation. The aim of the article was to research the impact of socio-economic conditions on students’ selection of the degree course. Material and methods. The survey involved 514 first-year students of Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska. Results. In the research process, it was found that Emergency Medicine Department conducted the best analysis of the financial situation of students, whereas the students of Russian Philology Department were the least tested ones. In nearly 70.0% of the respondents, both parents work, having a steady income. The average level of net income amounted to PLN 810,00 per capita. The student’s household consisted of, on average, 3.9 persons. Conclusions. The average PSW student’s income per capita in the household falls in the range of up to PLN 1000, i.e. nearly 30% lower than the disposible monthly income per capita in 2015 (the Polish Central Statistical Office, 2016), with 3-4 persons in the household, in which both parents are professionally active.

W artykule ukazano, na podstawie wyników badań własnych, czynniki determinujące wybory edukacyjno-zawodowe studentów. Analiza zebranego materiału pokazała, że wpływ poszczególnych grup czynników: podmiotowych, rynkowych, środowiskowych i pozamerytorycznych jest różny w zależności od wybranego kierunku studiów.

Based on the results of my own research, the article depicts factors that influence educational and vocational choices made by students. The analysis of the gathered materials shows that the influence of particular groups of factors: subjective, labour market, environmental and non-substantive varies depending on the field of study.

The 1st -year students choose the field of study according to their interests regardless of the socio-economic situation of family they come from. They consider the importance of the practical profile and having social competence essential on the labour market. The university education enables them to get the higher education, ensuring the educational safety thanks to a tailor-measured educational offer. The article presents the feedback from the research conducted on the group of 574 1st -year students, considering financial background and students’ educational expectations that influence the university educational policy in practice.
