Youth councils are one of the entities functioning within local government units. According to law, the councils have an advisory character, but in practice these bodies also perform a number of other functions. Youth councils are forums that represent the views of young people at a local level; the councils shape, develop, activate, and educate the youth as well as create a forum for cooperation between local authorities and young people. The work in a youth council contributes to the development of a person's personality; it provides satisfaction, self-fulfillment; helps to develop social competences and to meet the need to be noticed and appreciated. The paper presents the results of empirical research, in which the author proves that the main role of youth councils is to activate the local life of young people.

Rady młodzieżowe są podmiotami, które funkcjonują przy jednostkach samorządu terytorialnego. Stanowią reprezentację młodzieży dla danej społeczności lokalnej, a także tworzą forum dla współdziałania i współrządzenia pomiędzy władzami lokalnymi a młodzieżą. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie relacji zachodzących pomiędzy opiekunem rady młodzieżowej a radą oraz wskazanie potencjalnych ról, które mogą być przez niego realizowane. Wyniki przedstawione w artykule są częścią badań empirycznych dotyczących działalności rad młodzieżowych oraz ich znaczenia dla lokalnej wspólnoty samorządowej.

Youth councils are entities that operate at local government units. They represent young people for various communities, and are also a forum for cooperation between local authorities and young people. The purpose of the article is to present the relationships between the youth radio guardian and the council and to indicate available roles that may be related by him. The results that were presented in the text are the results of empirical research on the activities of advisers and their significance for joint self-government groups.

Rady młodzieżowe są jednym z podmiotów opiniodawczo-doradczych działających przy jednostkach samorządu terytorialnego w Polsce. Od ponad 30 lat mają swój udział w życiu lokalnych wspólnot samorządowych oraz podejmują przedsięwzięcia społeczne, m.in. o charakterze charytatywnym. Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w ramach projektu ,,Znaczenie i rola Rad Młodzieżowych w funkcjonowaniu lokalnej wspólnoty samorządowej”. Badaniami objęto rady młodzieżowe z 18 miast wojewódzkich, tj. miast, w których znajdują się sejmiki województw oraz urzędy wojewódzkie. Opisane tu wyniki badań, przedstawiają aktywność rad młodzieżowych w zakresie działalności charytatywnej.

Youth Councils are entities that serve as consultative and advisory bodies to local government units in Poland. The councils, which have been functioning for over 30 years, take part in the activities of local governments and undertake a number of social projects, including those of a charitable nature. The paper presents the results of research that was carried out as part of the project "The importance and role of Youth Councils in the functioning of local governments." The research concerns Youth Councils from 18 voivodeship cities, where local government councils and voivodeship offices are located. The results of the research, presented in the ensuing paper, show the activity of Youth Councils in the field of charitable work.

The article is a part of a publication series on the functioning of youth councils working with local government units. This publication analyses the involvement of youth councils in humanitarian assistance to refugees from Ukraine due to the Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Furthermore, the article presents reasons for the conflict between both countries and provides an overview of different ventures taken by youth councils in Poland.

Artykuł stanowi część cyklu publikacyjnego dotyczącego funkcjonowania rad młodzieżowych działających przy jednostkach samorządu terytorialnego. W niniejszej publikacji dokonano analizy zaangażowania rad młodzieżowych w pomoc humanitarną dla uchodźców z Ukrainy w związku z inwazją Federacji Rosyjskiej na Ukrainę w lutym 2022 r. Dodatkowo, w artykule przedstawiono przyczyny konfliktu pomiędzy obydwoma państwami oraz dokonano charakterystyki poszczególnych przedsięwzięć podejmowanych przez rady młodzieżowe w Polsce.
