The concept of zero waste, most frequently understood as the idea or the lifestyle consisting in the limitation of waste production through conscious consumption as well as such management of products so as to avoid waste production, may exert impact on the manner of the perception of things. In the first part of the article there has been conducted the analysis of the internationalism zero waste in the Polish ecological discourse (the analysis of meaning). In the further stages there have been presented the ways of perceiving and evaluating things (the identification of the toposes).

Koncepcja zero waste, rozumiana najczęściej jako idea lub styl życia polegający na ograniczeniu produkcji odpadów poprzez świadomą konsumpcję oraz takie gospodarowanie produktami, by uniknąć powstawania śmieci, może mieć wpływ na sposób postrzegania rzeczy, przedmiotów. W pierwszej części artykułu dokonano analizy funkcjonowania w polskim dyskursie ekologicznym internacjonalizmu zero waste (analiza znaczenia). W drugiej części tekstu przedstawiono sposoby postrzegania i wartościowania przedmiotów (identyfikacja toposów).

Przedmiotem artykułu jest analiza koncepcji zero waste realizowanej przez Unię Europejską. Strategia ta jest w pełni komplementarna z unijną polityką ochrony środowiska oraz polityką klimatyczną. Obecnie kwestie środowiskowe odgrywają istotną rolę w polityce publicznej nie tylko szczebla unijnego, dlatego ważne jest bliższe przyjrzenie się koncepcji zero waste. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie stanowiska Unii Europejskiej wobec koncepcji zero waste z uwzględnieniem sposobu realizacji tej strategii. Podstawowym problemem badawczym jest odpowiedź na pytanie, jaką funkcję pełni koncepcja zero waste w Unii Europejskiej. Rozwiązanie będzie poszukiwane poprzez analizę działań leżących u podstaw wizji zasobooszczędności oraz omówienie unijnych inicjatyw ustawodawczych przybliżających przejście na gospodarkę o obiegu zamkniętym. Autorka przedstawia w artykule główne założenia koncepcji zero waste oraz unijnej strategii zasobooszczędności. Zaprezentowano również działania wypełniające założenia idei życia zero-odpadowego. kolejnych rozdziałach artykułu przedstawiono unijne ustawodawstwo nawiązujące do wizji zero waste. Poddano analizie istniejące w tym zakresie regulacje prawne w Unii Europejskiej. Ponadto, wskazano instytucje odpowiedzialne za działania realizujące założenia strategii zero waste.

The subject of the article is an analysis of the zero waste concept implemented by the European Union. This strategy is fully complementary to the EU's environmental and climate policies. Currently, environmental issues play an important role in public policy not only at the EU level, therefore it is important to take a closer look at the zero waste concept. The main research problem is the answer to the question about the function of the zero waste concept in the European Union. The solution will be sought by analysing the actions underlying the vision of resource efficiency and discussing EU legislative initiatives to bring the transition to a circular economy closer. The article includes the main assumptions of the zero waste concept and the EU's resource-efficiency strategy. It also presents activities that fulfil the tenets of zero-waste living. The next parts of the article include the analysis of the EU legislation related to the zero waste vision. There will be presented the existing legislative regulations in the European Union. Furthermore, there will be indicated the institutions responsible for the implementation of the zero waste strategy.

In regard to the turn towards Earth in science and education, the ongoing Climate Youth Strikes and catastrophic forecasts for the future, the article is an attempt to introduce into school practice the trans-disciplinary trend called ecological humanities. The author of the article endeavored not only to apply new content to Polish language education - thanks to which it will be possible for students to reflect on their responsibility for the Earth - but also to recontextualize old texts by drawing attention to the relationship between man and environment. The basis for the mentality and educational changes is a designed bachelor’s seminar, which involves students in the responsible eco-education.

W związku z dokonującym się zwrotem ku Ziemi w nauce i edukacji, trwającymi Klimatycznymi Strajkami Młodzieżowymi, a przede wszystkim fatalnymi prognozami dotyczącymi przyszłości, artykuł jest próbą wprowadzenia do praktyki szkolnej transdyscyplinowego nurtu – humanistyki ekologicznej. Autorka zaaplikowała do edukacji polonistycznej nowe treści, dzięki którym uczeń może podjąć głęboki namysł nad odpowiedzialnością za Ziemię. Próbując odpowiedzieć na ekologiczne wyzwanie, autorka zrekontekstualizowała również szkolne lektury dawne, zwracając uwagę na nowe relacje człowieka ze środowiskiem. Podstawę zmian mentalnościowo-edukacyjnych stanowi zaprojektowane i opisane seminarium licencjackie, włączające studentów polonistyki w odpowiedzialne ekokształcenie.
