The aim of this paper is to present the possibility of using the Statistica application to analyse correlation in the science of security. On the basis of the secondary data contained in the report The Security of Traffic Movement and the Related Actions Taken in 2014, which was compiled by the National Roads and Traffic Safety Council, an attempt was made to determine which independent variables are correlated with the number of accidents observed in Polish voivodeships in 2014. A correlation calculation has also been conducted of qualitative variables. With the help of the Statistica application, it was possible to determine whether there existed a correlation that was statistically relevant between a collision type and the area where the road accident occurred. The analysis was illustrated with graphs and screenshots from the running Statistica application.
