Dynamiczny rozwój chińskiej gospodarki spowodował gwałtowny wzrost zapotrzebowania na energię, która pochodzi głównie ze spalania węgla w przestarzałych technologicznie elektrowniach. To doprowadziło do degradacji środowiska naturalnego i pogorszenia jakości życia w tym kraju. Celem niniejszych rozważań jest ocena współczesnych zmian zachodzących w polityce energetycznej ChRL pod kątem zmniejszenia presji na środowisko. Przedstawione obserwacje pokazują, że skala realizowanych zmian jest olbrzymia, co pozwala na stwierdzenie skuteczności przemian w długiej perspektywie. Wątpliwości budzi jedynie skala podjętych działań, ponieważ brak wewnętrznej zgody odnośnie do kierunków długookresowej polityki gospodarczej powoduje, że trudno jest okre-ślić bardziej dokładnie kierunki przeobrażeń w energetyce. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone na podstawie analizy krytycznej dostępnej literatury. Artykuł ma charakter badawczy.

The dynamic development of the Chinese economy has caused a sharp increase in demand for energy which comes mainly from coal combustion in power plants technologically obsolete. This has led to degradation of the environment and quality of life in this country. The purpose of this article is to evaluate the research of contemporary developments in the PRC energy policy in terms of reducing the pressure on the environment. The observations show that the scale of ongoing change is enormous, allowing to determine the effectiveness of changes in the long term. Doubts arise only the scale of transformations taken as lack of internal consensus on the longterm direction of economic policy makes it difficult to determine more precisely the directions of change in the energy sector. The study was conducted based on a critical analysis of the available literature.
