The article aims to show how two different methodologies complement each other. The first - fields theory is older, the second - frame theory represents cognitive approach to language. The frame theory refers to human experience and schematised knowledge about the world and as such creates interesting perspectives for semantic description and way of understanding a word as a part of a system and a text. But, it should not mean a complete negation of the previous theory. Field theory is especially useful in analysis of the creative texts which reveal more subjective and individualised way of perceiving the world. It may capture the aspects of a text that are less obvious from a point of view of the frame theory.
